Vegas New Home

Looking at Lennar project - the home lists for 230K, 3br,3ba,1700sq ft. The home has not been built yet - what do you think is a good price to offer - bec i dont want to take it for 230K - I am thinking 210ish?? What would you offer?

Lennar in Texas doesn't negotiate much. Don't know their policy in LV. Only can tell you your market is probably the worst in the country. So bargain hard because you'll probably lose another 10 or 15 percent in value before this thing is done.

I don't know the area that well and I'm moving from southern California for work. I want to live in a safe,and quiet area with good schools.

Anthem, Eagle Hills, Summerlin, The Lakes, Lake Las Vegas, El Dorado, Aliente. I don't care for Green Valley or the southwestern side of the valley. Avoid central and the eastern corridor and the east portion of the valley (Hollywood Ave. area) South, has the noise of the airport.

As to a prior answer. It's 76 degrees all the time in the Las Vegas I live in except when the car a/c is cooling down. I lived in So Cal for 40+ years, Vegas 20+. The Vegas weather beats the heck out of So Cal. I worked outside my entire life and really know the difference. Here, it is Hot for 6-8 weeks, cold 4 weeks, and beautiful the remainder. It has been hotter in LA than here for the last 2 weeks and we have not had any rain. Schools suck everywhere, because it's all the same district. Our teachers are paid 49th in the Nation, so we only draw those who cannot find a better job. Our test scores beat Mississippi, or they did at one time. El Dorado seems to have some good schools. It's not so affluent that everyone uses private schools and affluent enough that parents seem to participate more.

Can you get your own personal living space in fallout new vegas like you did in fallout 3 at megaton or new vegas? if so where is it located and what quest line do i need to do to be able to accomplish this?

Yes you can, you can get a suite at the lucky 38 casino, as a gift from mr. house for returning the platinum chip to him after you have taken it from benny. The casino is in the middle of the strip and i would advise making your companion(s) wait outside the first time you go in, because they disappeared when i tried to enter with them.

I just want to expect and know what things to do in the city when you live by yourself and all your friends and family are back home in California.

What is there to do in Las Vegas? Where are great places to go shopping in this city? Can you get a hotel room in Las Vegas if you are a resident? Best Places to eat? Chinese? Japanese? French? Italian? Greek? I just want to know whats out there and what you can do in the little city?

What's there to do in Las Vegas? Depends on who you are. Lots of gambling, lots of shopping, lots of clubs and lots of eating. But there are also lots of parks, lots of locals bars, Lake Mead is 30 minutes away, Bonny Springs and Red Rock Canyon are 45 minutes and Hoover Dam is an hour. There are hundreds of shows and concerts, lots of libraries, the new Springs Preserve and a zoo. Laughlin, Mesquite and State Line are all within an hour and are a great escape (the circle bar at Buffalo Bills at State Line serves GREAT margaritas, have one before you go on the rollercoaster) and if you're into the outdoors, Mt. Charleston is 20 min away and Bryan Head and Zion are about 3 hours. St. George and Cedar City, UT are within 3 hours of the city and are cozy little spots to visit (but bring your own alcohol, they don't sell it on Sundays).

Hope this helps! I too, moved from California (San Diego) and it took some time to adjust, there's no REAL beach here, but you find things to do. While the city certainly isn't the safest, it's the city of sin, you're not going to be attacked on every street corner as some would have you believe. :)
