My wife and I are looking to move from central NJ to south florida. Of these cities which would be best for 33 yo parents with a baby in terms of: school systems, crime rates, nice friendly communities, not too congested (traffic), near the beach, affordable newer homes (300,000-425,000)? - Sarasota, Osprey, North Port, Ft. Myers, Naples, Jupiter, Tampa/Clearwater?? Any other suggestions? THANKS
I live in Naples and can't wait to get out...born here and ready for a change..if you live near the water your insurance will be aprox $5k taxes are thru the roof...lots and lots of foreclosures...and nothing to do..not much crime but I am soo bored here and I was born here...ixnay on ft myers..awful....tampa lots of crime..miami more crime..unless your gay or cuban you wont fit in..sarasota seems your best bet or up near the pan handle....look up zipskinny.com its a great sight for demographics...good luck..you can buy my house btw your best bet is to stay in each town for a week and just check it out..thats what I intend to do...naples and sarasota are ok...but insurance from hurricanes will kill you...unless you rent..

I am moving from Long Island New York to Sarasota Florida in eight weeks. Long Island is the home of many great and talented dancers and dance studios. For twelve years I have taken tap,jazz,ballet,pointe, hip hop,and lyrical. My younger sister, who is eight, takes all of these classes too. If you know of any great studios who offer all these classes, and are competitive, please tell me! I would really like to hear it from someone experienced and opinions and stories are great too! Thank You!
I dance at the ballet school Revelle Academy. It's in Sarasota on Bee Ridge and Cattleman. Their website is revelleacademy.com Revelle offers Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Pointe, HipHop, musical theater plus piano, violin, and singing lessons.
If your not interested in Revelle there is Sarasota Ballet, the Florida Ballet Academy, Studio of Dance and Music, and SRQ Dance.

It's for my mom. She finally got out of a bad relationship and bought a new house of her own (in Sarasota, FL). It is not her first home. Any ideas appreciated! Thanks!
Since it isn't her first home, maybe some things she wouldn't think to buy for herself. There are some great new wine bottle openers (I just saw a really cool one at Big Lots for $10 and a bottle of her favorite wine with a set of the $5 wine glasses also at Big Lots, along with their $2 set of wine charms all in the $3 ice bucket used like a basket and wrapped in the $1.99 cellophane with a ribbon tied at the top.) You could add a set of those soapstone coasters which actually absorb the condensation from glasses placed on it. You could get her a set of good grips kitchen tools from oxo which includes the can opener, the rubber mits you can plunge into water or remove hot items from the oven, the potato peeler, the grater, the juicer, etc. Or go with a baking theme using a silpat, the new rubberized cake, bunt, muffin tins and mits by kitchenaid. Or go with the laundry theme with stain removers, sizing or starch, some of the wonderful linen sprays, borax, and natural detergent and fabric softeners. I received a set of really cute door mats as a housewarming gift, with an outdoor thermometer, watering can and some gardening tools that I still appreciate today.
I'm an electrician/home-builder living in New York, but would like to relocate to 'The sunshine State'. Obviously, obtaining stable employment is most important, but there is alot of other things to consider...any advice- where to go , what to look for, what to expect, ETC? I used to live in this area as a teenager (now 43- dont laugh!!!) LOL. I would really appreciate any info i can get. THANKS!!!!!!
The home building industry has practically reached a full stop in Florida. That's a big change from 5 years ago. Hang loose until all this economic nonsense shakes out. It'll start booming here again.
