looking to buy a new home in southern phoenix area, near dobbins road.. with the current unstable housing market, i don't know if i should wait on buying and just rent for few more years or just buy. what should i do?

real estate is going up....buy now and in the long run you'll get your money back and then some....besides why pay rent and pay off someone else's mortage when you can be putting that money towards your own mortage

I'm planning on driving from Bowling Green, OH and according to Google maps it's going to take me over a day to get there. I have already made arrangements to stay at a hotel halfway through that is pet friendly but I've never traveled more than 2 hours with my cat in the car. Suggestions?

Your cat will travel best in a pet carrier/crate that is secured with the seat belt. Bring the cat box, food, water. Use a collar/harness/leash if you plan to let your cat out of the carrier/crate during rest stops. If your cat is a nervous or sick traveler, please talk to a veterinarian about appropriate medication. The web sites below might be helpful. Be safe and have fun!

Phoenix is growing quickly, so the prices are outrageous. Do you already have a job there? It is a large city, so it may make a difference where you will be working; the traffic is very heavy at certain times of the day.

We are newer to the area so we are still getting a lay of the land. We want about 1750 - 2500 Sq ft. We have no kids, so schools are not a big priority. We would like to stay near the Phoenix Metro area (areas like Livine, Avondale, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, are fine too.

Right now you are much better off buying pre existing homes. There is a huge glut of these type houses in the Phoenix area. Avondale is a nice area- mostly newer homes and close to the sports arenas. Chandler is overpriced- but nice. Tempe has pockets of nice areas but I would avoid it. Mesa again has pockets of nice areas but I would still avoid it. Ahwatukee is a nice area- a little farther out- but great values there.

My business partner is looking to develope a couple small homes in downtown phoenix. The only problem is that the contractors we know who work in the downtown area either specialize in condominiums or basic remodels. All of the new home builders we know would probably charge extra to come downtown. Does anyone know of a general contractor that works in the downtown area. We'll be doing smaller (about 2500 s.f.) single family residences that are a bit on the contemporary side design wise.
