New Home Ornament

Any ideas on how to go about making an ornament for them? Materials I need? What to use to glue whatever I need together? Any ideas for a cute message to put on the ornament to represent their first christmas at their first home together?

Take a photo of their new house. print it out using an ink jet printer, on acetate. cut it out and slip it into a clear glass ornament. It will look a bit like stained glass.
Take a bunch of photos of the 2 of them. print them out on heavy paper, cut out into triangle shapes, and glue them together to make interesting shaped ornaments.
You can use regular photos that are not very good, and just cut out the parts that are good, and create photo mosaic ornaments, decoupage on old glass ornaments that are tarnished, so you can reuse them.

It's Autumn (fall to you) and the symbols of seasonal change are the fruits and vegetables in season, the flowers that are out and the vines in fruit right now...so decorate your home with them.

They are pagan symbols of plenty and of harmony with nature, and therefore they represent fertility (not necessarily babies...but joy and plenty) which is what you should be wished on the occasion your wedding.

You could in fact make the theme a late celebration of Mabon...which technically ought to have been celebrated on Sept 21...but hey...I'm sure you can stretch the point for a wedding.It's the Autumn Harvest Festival...the symbols of that are wine and gourds and squash...so it still fits with the Halloween thing...but it has more class.

I found quite a good website...it even gives ideas for foods to be served.

And remember...seasonal food is always more economical, so this will fit your budget too.

The silver ornaments and the utencils of mine has turned black during course of time... can anyone please give me tips to bring back the original new shining look of the ornaments with the help of the things in home itself?

its very very simple. use tamrind and clean. you have to wet a handfull of tamrind pulp & nicely rub it on the vessel. use tamrind as a soap & wash. amazing!! ur articles have turned new!!!!

Okay, I got a new Betta today and when I put him in his tank I noticed him kinda getting sucked towards the filter...I put a little tank ornament under the part on the filter that sucks up all the water, and it has been helping a bit, but I'm still a little concerned about him being happy with his new home. Also, what do those bubbly tube things do? They're kind of like filters, too-right?

The filter came with my tank-its called the Tetra Micro Whisper Filter

The bubbly tube things are an airstone and they are not a filter. They only add oxygen to the water which is not important to a betta because they are labyrinth breathers. Check if you filter has an adjustment to slow it down. You can put plants in front of it to protect the intake or fasten a piece of sponge to the out flow if it is a hang on back filter.

we always give ornaments to the children just for them to open and put on the tree each year, and the child that leaves to set up her own home takes her ornaments with her to decorate her own tree,our daughter started at age 1 to 30 ornaments from us plus whatever she purchases.She collects for her kids also. our trees rell a story . By the time our last kid leaves the tree will be bare except with memories.

I'm keeping it simple with cooking, gift-giving and celebrating. It'll be as close to normal activities as I can get.

Over-eating is a big thing I'd like to eliminate so I'm making the basics, keeping in mind that the usual holiday menu is full of excess fats, calories and way too much sugar, so either I have substituted ingredients, or I've replaced certain dishes with something we won't regret later. We're using smaller plates and that really helps since our "eyes are bigger than our stomachs" most of the time. If we're still hungry we can go back for more.

Same goes for gift-giving. Hardly anyone can remember what they got or gave last year, so I get one or two nice gifts that match each recipient's interests and wrap them beautifully instead of buying a lot of "filler" that we seem to pick up to make sure nobody feels slighted. That small stuff adds up to a lot of money and it's a waste. Also I'm taking a certain amount of cash and no credit cards and stick to the list I've prepared ahead of time. Then when New Years Day hits, I won't have bills coming in, I won't be exhausted and we won't have to try to work off the additional pounds we've gained.
