I would like to work as a New Home Sales Consultant in Houston. A real estate license is not needed in Texas to work for a home builder, however I have two out of the five required real estate courses completed. I'm wondering whether or not it would be easier for me to work as a Real Estate Agent (maybe part-time?) first to get experience than to try to get a job with a builder, given the current state of the market. How often do these builders hire people without experience?
I need answers from individuals in the business please. Thanks!
Many builders prefer that you do not work as an independent realty agent before selling new homes. The builders have a very closely, detailed approach that they want you to follow. Agents who have worked on their own are often resistant to that regimented approach ( altho it does work pretty well for the builders). So go and apply at the builders. Since few are hiring, offer to sub in for anyone who calls in sick or goes on vacation. Once they see you work, they will hire you full-time.

and many many more around that area.....
It seems like a no brainer with Brown having a super season thus far but with Miami having a far from good passing game, an undefeaated New England team can tee off on Brown. White is going up against a decent Houston team but........ I also have Shaun Alexander who I will start because I don't think he will have three bad games in a row. Thanks.
Usually I would go with Brown but even though he is doing great New England has a great defense and how often will Miami have the ball. Miami also just lost Chamber which will hurt make life a lot more difficult for Brown with even less offensive weapons on there side.
I would put in LenDale White for this week Brown could end up being held to very low numbers and it is too big of a risk.
I am relocating from overseas and plan to purchase a (preferably a new home) 3bdrm+single family home in Houston, TX. I am originally from Chicago and enjoy the city. I have never lived in Houston but would like to know a few safe areas I should begin to look. Suggestions please????
If you would let us know where you will be working (or going to school, etc.) we could be of more help. Houston is 600 square miles and you will really want to live near your place of business. As Streake said, there are so many different areas that are nice.
Realistically or fantasy-listically?
You can fantasize about River Oaks, but there aren't many houses for sale there. Memorial covers a wide area and has many upscale houses for sale. Zip code 77024 is the wealthiest in Houston (Memorial area). There's West U, which is quite nice. You can go just outside city limits to parts of Sugar Land.
Oh, in America we spell the word, "neighborhood."

TIRR has provided care for many notables — most famously Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett following a life-threatening spinal injury, Houston Astros slugger Jeff Bagwell following shoulder surgery and Houston oil tycoon Oscar Wyatt following a stroke. But now the renowned hospital is preparing for its most high-profile patient yet.
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, is scheduled to be transferred to TIRR on Friday from Tucson's University Medical Center to begin rehabilitation work from the affects of a gunshot wound to the head.
Founded in 1959 by Dr. William Spencer, TIRR was originally intended to address the lack of clinical attention to the quality of life for patients with polio and cystic fibrosis. Through the years its specialties have changed and broadened with the time, and today approximately two-thirds of patients admitted are recovering from brain injuries including stroke, Parkinson's disease and traumatic brain injury, according to TIRR CEO Carl Josehart, with another 20 to 25 percent suffering from spinal cord injuries.
