Anyone know about new home grants??

I know there are programs out there to help you purchase a new home in Texas but I can not find online. Can anyone point me in the right directions to some websites or programs???

I don't know about new homes, the grants are usuallly intended to improve bad neighborhoods.

Anyway, the housing grants are done through HUD, you can find tons of info at hud.gov

Does anyone know how to receive grants to start a new home day care ?

I am looking for grants to purchase play equipment, and put a fence up. I am also in need for new windows that are safer for the children.

It is hard to find grants to start or expand a business, including daycare. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for a for-profit business. You may want to check with your state if they have grants available for new daycare centers.

Nonetheless, you can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit venture.

Even if you buy books on "how to get grants" or list that supposedly has information on grants -- all of them are mere rehash of what CFDA has, albeit packaged differently. But still the info is the same - hardly any grants for starting a for profit business.

Even SBA does NOT give out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/expanding/grants.html ...

"The U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments."

Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT - Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program

Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organizations involved in training or other similar activities (grant 59.043 Women's Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women's business center that will train women entrepreneurs

For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online. It's a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) but their opening blurb only says that the database is ideal for "students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." Entrepreneurs are apparently not one of them, so I take it they also don't have listings of private foundations who give grants to would-be entrepreneurs.

New home buyers grants for Ohio etc?

My fiance and I are looking at getting a new home soon. We have heard that the government is giving out $8,000 to new home buyers in a form of refund a few months after purchase. I have not found any information on this looking through Google. Does anyone know anymore info on this or a link talking about it?

We have also checked out a few Ohio grant sites such as www.ohiohome.org

We can qualify for the grants for grads program as well.

How many grants can we apply for and use? Thanks for the info.

We also saw that OHFA has a first time home buyers mortgage program promising a fixed 5.5% interest rate over 30 years. That's pretty amazing.

http://irs.gov for info on the first time home buyers tax credit. The credit expires April 30th.
That means you must close on the house by then.

Where can I apply for grants to open a new maternity home in California?

I already own a two story 4 bedroom home.

If you are planning a for-profit business, it is hard to find grants to start a business -- even if you are a woman and you are a minority. You have better chances of getting low cost loans from the SBA instead of grants.

Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for a for-profit business. And yes, grants mean PAPERWORK - lots and lots of it, that is why a cottage industry of grant writers was born.

Here is a listing of federal grants for small businesses. See if there is any available for individuals for starting a business -- THERE'S NONE.

Are there any housing grants in the state of Kentucky for new home owners?

We bought a house that is a short sale and it needs renovations...where could we find low interest/no interest loans (or even better - grants) for remodeling? Is there such a thing?

Look on the FHA or HUD websites, or if your State has such a program it would be on the State's website. You never know - some localities do have the money to encourage home ownership and renovations.

  • Home Grants | A Long Road Finally Leads Home For Alvar Street ...

It’s been an extraordinary, heart-rending six Christmases for Alice Stewart.

That first Christmas after Hurricane Katrina was lost. Her home of 32 years on Alvar Street in the Upper 9th Ward was a pile of rubble. Her family was scattered to the winds.

A year later, in December 2006, her son Stanley, a polio victim whose family had been trapped in their Lower 9th Ward home during the storm, inspired a group of students from University of Central Florida to form the Hope for Stanley Alliance and rebuild houses across New Orleans, starting with his own.

A year after that, Alice Stewart, now 78, was one of thousands to get a mixed holiday blessing from the state’s Road Home housing recovery program : $104,000 based on a depressed pre-storm value, but not nearly enough to pay for the rising costs of reconstruction, even with the full insurance settlement she received. Years later, a federal judge in Washington would say that the state’s policy of calculating rebuilding grants based on home values was likely discriminatory against those living in poorer neighborhoods. That would offer little comfort for Alice Stewart, however.
