New Home Finder

Moving and need to find my little hamster a home. I've tried craigslist and pet finder.. no luck.. I wanna make sure hes not gonna be used as a feeder or anything.. any tips?

Try your local primary school-ask to put a notice up offering the little critter for free to a good home. Meet the parents before giving him away and make your own judgement from there.

Short of that, try www.hamstercentral.com. Put an ad in the forums-there are a lot of people who take in hammies and give them a good home (myself included)-just be sure to state where you live, and the breed of hamster.

I need to hang several heavy objects, including a TV in my new home, but I have tried several stud finders and they don't work. I have thick insulation in all my walls (internal and external) and I've been told this might be throwing off the sensor.

Is this right? If so, does a sensor exist that can differentiate?

Alternatively, can anyone recommend a better way of finding the studs? I want to avoid putting lots of holes in the wall.

There are stud finders at the home centers that calibrate themselves to the wall …they work pretty well.
Measure out from the corner every 16” should be a stud.

I have a cat named roscoe. I have had her since the day she was born. I had a cat who because of health issues I could not get her spayed so she gave birth to kittens and roscoe was my favorite so out of the litter I kept her.
She is about 11 years old now and got hematoma in her left ear and it is now permanently hardened and bent over. Because of her older age and the hematoma it has made it harder to find her a home.
My 5 year old nephew has recently moved in with me and is highly allergic to cats and dogs. Its not fair for my nephew if I keep roscoe. I have had her picture on pet finder, but have had no success with anyone adopting her.
I wanted to ask about no kill shelters.
Do they all foster animals?
and would they actually make sure my cat goes to a good home?
and also are they allowed to let me know who has adopted my cat?

I hate to have to give up my cat- its like giving up a family member.

It's sad that you have to get rid of her. Try putting her on craigslist. There are many people who would like her. I would like to have a cat like her. Just because a cat is old doesn't mean it should be ignored. Go to a few animal sights. Ask if they put there animals down. They don't make sure your cat goes to a good home. And they don't let you know who had adopted you cat. Most animal shelters can care less about your cat. And if the animal shelter finds that it has something wrong with it, sometimes they will only give it a few days. I don't know what for me to say. Your cat sounds very loving, I would want the best for it. But I don't know what else for met to say that I have already said. I am trying to set up a portable satellite dish for use with a TV and receiver in my RV. I was trying to make it work at home so I know what to do when I get to the campsite. I followed the directions that came with the satellite finder and the portable satellite dish. I powered up the receiver which gave me the azmuth and elevation for the satellite dish, but I cannot get the satellite finder to work. It is brand new - a Winegard SF-1000. I attached the coax which I attached to the TV port (I don't know what to call this, but it is where I attach a coax when the camp ground furnishes satellite or cable TV and all I have to do is turn on the TV and it works) on the outside of the RV to the TO RCVR side of the satellite finder, so the satellite finder is between the dish and the receiver. The receiver has power, but the satellite finder doesn't. Am I doing something wrong? This is the portable satellite dish I am using:

Hi! You have it almost right, you're close.
First you connect a cable from the dish to the "LNBF IN" port of the satellite finder.
Then you connect another wire from the satellite finder to your satellite receiver's "TO DISH" or "LNBF IN" or "SAT IN" port.
Then hook your television to the "TV OUT" or "VIDEO OUT" of the satellite receiver.
Turn everything on.
Put the satellite receiver into the "Point Dish" screen.
Take the satellite FINDER and put it on its highest sensitivity setting.
Move the dish around (up/down/left/right) until the finder starts beeping.
When the satellite finder starts beeping turn its sensitivity down slowly until the beeping just stops.
Move the satellite dish around (up/down/left/right) until it starts beeping again.
Repeat the process until the television screen gets a good signal.

The trick to using these finders is to set them to a lower sensitivity whenever they start beeping, that's called "peaking the signal."

Remember also that your dish is actually "looking" about 30-degrees HIGHER up than it is pointing, so a tree right in front of you should not be a big problem.
