How to get a older and a kitten to get used to a new home.ALL ADVICE.?

My dad, me and my sister may get a new home and we have two cat's , ones old and my kitten he's a month old .Any advice what I can get them used to our new house , I worry they will run off . And please dont be rude , thanks for all your help. And how long will they get used to it.

Be sure to take the litter box they are using now to the new house. That smell will help make it familiar.

Don't be surprised if your cats "hide out" for a day or so. My husband and I moved a few years ago, and one of our cats hid behind the refrigerator for four days. He would sneak out to eat at night and hide all day. Different cats react differently to new surroundings.

Just go on with your normal life and don't try to force the issue. They will adjust at their own speed and according to their own personalities. While the one cat was hiding behind the fridge, the others were curiously exploring their new surroundings. It's an individual thingie.

Trying to buy American? Or at least not buy Chinese in furnishing new home. Any advice?

I would be grateful to know of websites or other resources that will enable me to furnish a new home with items NOT made in China. If that is even possible. Thanks!

It will be difficult, but not impossible. What "furnishings" are you looking for, furniture, carpeting, appliances, ???

It is a shame that so many companies are now just a former shell of themselves, being squeezed by price and costs to send production overseas. Even some of the high end ones. There are a few domestic manufacturers, but you need to look for them.

New home - need advice on what internet connectivity is best?

We are building a new home but where we are DSL isn't available. Should we install CAT 5 cable or would going totally wireless be the answer? Anyone have any other suggestions?
We don't have cable either - we live on a ranch 'way out of town, so it's satellite television as well. I'd be using it for business (I'm going to quit working in town with my husband so won't have access to the office computer) and we'll need a fair amount of security.

Depends on your requirements. You need to consider a few factors: do you need large bandwidth on the local network? do you need perfect security?

For almost all applications, wireless is sufficient, as long as security is set up & you are not moving large amounts of data or sensitive data.

Considering buying a new builder home from Pulte - need advice on the new home building process?

We are first time home buyers and don't know much about the new home building process but would like some great but concise advice about the do's and don't's of new home building. Thanks in advance for any help!

Really be careful on the materials you select for your home. There are the standards but you can upgrade and that is where you can really get caught up in all your emotions. The salespeople will tell you that one material is better than the other but really think about what you like, what you want, but base it all on what you really need and can use. This will save you time and money on that particular part of the process.

Also beware of your building timeline as delays are often occuring during the process. Materials run short or they receive defective materials or someone cracks or chips the surface but installs the product anyway. Or loan issues surface usually when the Underwriter requests more personal information. Make sure they let you do mini walkthroughs during the building of your home. That way you see the work in progress, take note of where there might be a problem and just notice everything. It helps to observe when you can.

Can someone give me advice on how to best find my dog a new home?

Our dog - 3 year old Jack Russell female - is so aggressive toward our new baby, it is not going to be possible to keep her. We love her so much and want to find good advice on how to find her a great new home, without small kids. Any advice for this very sad task?

Jack russells are actually a working breed that need lots of activity, and I've seen many of them end up at shelters because the owners didn't realize what they were getting themselves into (they are cute, until they destroy the living room while you're at work). Being aggressive towards a new baby is definitely a reason to find another home for her, and I'm really sorry that you have to do so.
Check for a breed-specific Jack Russell rescue organization in your area. There are groups that find homes for breeds that they are familiar with, and I've worked with some fantastic organizations placing great danes, beagles, even senior dogs. To be fair to any potential new owner, let them know about the aggression towards the baby and the dog should be placed in a home without children. Good luck to you.

  • Buying a New Home? Plan Ahead! Good Advice from a Mortgage Broker

Before you begin house hunting, always get pre-approved. A quick five-minute conversation will allow for a review of your income, liabilities and credit history. Once this is reviewed, we will be able to determine the amount you are eligible for in a mortgage loan. Supported by a pre-approval letter, this will assist you and your real estate agent in targeting the right homes in your price range.

Down Payment Save for a down payment. Typically, you must put at least 3.5% (FHA) or 5% (conventional) down. (VA Loans require 0% down). Gifting is allowed (in particular, FHA) but there are specific requirements for each eligible program. Other programs allow for as little as 3% down but again, there are specific qualifying guidelines. Regardless, start saving now.

Credit History/Credit Score Minimum credit scores are required for all loans. For FHA loans, a score of 620 is standard while 660/680 is the minimum for conventional loans. Credit bureaus review your documented credit history and give a score depending on your commitment to paying on time. There is a direct correlation between a higher credit score and a lower interest rate that will save you money. Non-traditional credit is also available in lieu of a credit history.
