Vegas is pretty pricey, if location does not matter check out Laughlin, NV 90 min south of Vegas. There are some DRY lots there (AVI Hotel and Casino)(Riverside Hotel and Casino).

How much would a round trip plane ticket cost to fly from Vero Beach, Florida to Las Vegas, Nevada.?
Shopping Forum

The stay in Las Vegas would probably be for a week. I would like to be there for New Years, & Be home by the 4th of January.

It would not be cheap since you are buying a ticket less than 14 days before your departure date. I would check to see how much flights are out of Orlando or Ft. Lauderdale on Southwest or AirTran.

Cracks in ceiling of new home in desert?
Las Vegas

I have a new home in Las Vegas Nevada, bought in Dec 2008, It now has 4 or 5 cracks in the ceiling all in the same room (great room) each is about 5 feet in length. I spoke to warrenty department and they advised taht I wait until closer to end of warranty period to have repaired for two reasons:
1. let the home go through a the heated summer as more could occur
2. They only do it one time during the warrenty period.

Recommendations please (thank you)

Double check your warranty.
They should have to fix anything under the warranty period. If they don't get it right the first time or if more occurs they should still be liable. Many builders in Vegas built quick during the boom and now don't have much new income coming in to pay for the repairs.
They may just be stalling you.

December 2008 was only a couple of months ago. Unless there was a major earthquakes lately, it sounds like a problem. You may want to look in your attic and under your crawlspace for any cracks.

Talk with your neighbors. Do any of them have the same or similar problems. It could be a sign of a design, materials or construction flaw.

Is buying a home in las vegas smart right now?
Las Vegas

My wife and I just had our first child, now three months old, and I want nothing but the best for them, so I want to move from california to las vegas nevada because I could afford to buy a house there, plus the house we liked is only $150,000 since the prices went down big time, it was worth $250,000 last year. I would get the house, and look for a new job in vegAS, IN ORDER TO PAY FOR MORTGAGE, thing is , is now the time to buy now that the prices are low? I have always wanted a house too. WHat does the economy have to say about buying low right now. I have saved about $20,000, so what do you think, down payment is $15,000.

I think 150k is a good price for a house in Vegas. I bought a house in Vegas in 2001 for 148k and sold it in 2005 for 293k. When i sold there was NOTHING that you could buy under 200k. If houses are back to the 150k range, I think you are pretty safe. I would say this is the PERFECT time to buy. Im not in vegas anymore but in N. California, and i just bought a house last month. I signed the contract in april, but between april & august, my house went up in value from 216,500 to 227,990. (thats right..UP) Thats SOLD prices...not listing. There was a 12 month inventory in this town of resale homes...this month there is just over 2 month inventory of resales.

The media is still trying to scare everyone away from housing by saying its still dropping, but its not. They only report from last year to this year...so they will say that house prices dropped 9.5% in july even though they are using july of last year as a base. Prices have been going up since may/april of this year, but they wont let the general public know because they look at things from a year behind (if that makes sense) In as early as february of 2009 (and as late as may 2009) you will see a report of house prices going up (even though they are going up NOW) the media will finally let on that real estate is getting better. That when you will see a big recovery of home prices. Might even shoot up 15% in some areas that got hit hard. Heck, my home is up 5% in just a few months!
