How to find wood worker able to make custom objects following my designs for small home furnishing objects?

I create hand painted objects with different mediums. I need a wood worker who would be able to fabricate different shaped objects( trays, bowls, lamps, small benches..etc.) for an affordable price. I would prefer him to live in Brooklyn, NY or New York city.
I would also appreciate any advice about creating these wood objects myself ( Tools, wood origins etc..)

Nafi, you should look into a small tabletop lathe. Delta makes them, you can get one for around $100-200. Get s set of lathe knives at Home Depot or Lowes (about $50). Use mahogany starting out--I know it's a little more expensive than pine, but WOW the difference in cutting and shaping... You will become instantly discouraged using anything other than that. Look on ebay for one; and strongly consider a video to teach you. I have a large machine that can be made into many different tools, though I never considered the lathe parts until a year ago--even though I am a professional furniture builder--and I was utterly amazed how easy it is. It makes a HUGE mess, I will warn you.

i need some help about moving and new york city?

i am 21 yers old/female and i am graduating from college in may. i will have my degree as a high school history teacher. anyway, i am from pittsburgh, pa and i have never gone away to school or left home, so i want to move somewhere this summer to be on my own. i have been to nyc plenty of times and i love it there. i want to move there for june, july, and august, and if i don't like it i can come back home.

i need to be on my own for a while and experience new things. while i am there i would like to look for a job teaching and see if anything comes up. okay, so here's what i need advice on. first, is it possible to find a place that i can live at for only the summer? is it possible that its furnished? i have a brand new bedroom set and bed at my house, but i dnt want send it to nyc (8 hr drive!!) also, any decent areas i cld stay at? i have no one to live with and only about $800-1000 for rent a month. also i will probably leave my car at home.

Your best bet is a sublease from a student who will be going home for the summer. Check with the local college to see what newspaper they have on campus. I would not move any furniture for just the summer. You don't have much money for rent, so if you can't sublease it will be difficult for you.

Summer Vacationing in New York? Where to live?

I'm thinking of moving to New York City for the summer only! And I don't know the best way to go about it. I'm not sure if renting an apartment is a good idea, Because some wont allow short term leases. In my case, I would be living there 3 months and then returning home for school. Are there any affordable vacation apartments in the city ? Also, furnished? And where are the nice, upscale, areas of the city? I'm not looking to live in some trash dump lol.

thanks in advance!!(=

Look into subletting. A lot of people will rent out there apartment for a few months when they go away or something of that nature. A lot of times they will have roommates and they do that because they need someone to pay their part of the rent for the short period of time while they are away. The apartments are furnished.

If you don't want to do that you could also look into a youth hostel. It's all up to you really. Just be careful.
Aviod Bed-stuy, East New York (also known as brownsville) and Flatbush (all are in Brooklyn)

Even though some of thost neighborhoods are getting better, if you are only staying for a short time you might as well avoid them all together.

Neighborhoods like Park Slope, williamsburg, greenpoint in brooklyn are good. Also in the city you are good probably anywhere from the 80's all the way down even the 100s (I mean streets) are a lot better. The Upper west side is also a good neighborhood. Do a wiki search and get familiar with the different neighborhoods and check out craigs list and other sites, they usually have people who list sublets.

Good luck and have fun in the city this summer!

P.S if you are looking for fun in the city and a safer neighborhood do not go to Jamaica or Long Island. Jamaica has some rough areas and Long Island is hard from a transportation standpoint. If you drive then Long Island is ideal, but if you don't have a car you want to stay in the city and I suggest sticking with Brooklyn or Manhattan. If you end up staying in Queens, Astoria and Long Island city are good because they are close to Manhattan and Brookly. Again, good luck!

Are Clinton supporters ignorant of the Clintons escapades and coverups, or do they just not care?

To find out the real story behind the Clintons you have to go international, as the U.S. media will not tell the whole story. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jht ml?xml=/news/2001/01/21/wbush221.xml Clintons return White House gifts as sleaze row flares http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jht ml?xml=/news/2001/02/09/wclin09.xml

BILL and Hillary Clinton have returned thousands of pounds worth of presents amid mounting accusations of sleaze during the last days of his administration.

The sofas, lamps and other furnishings were among hundreds of items taken from the White House by the Clintons to furnish their new home in Chappaqua, New York. The returns followed "confusion" over whether the gifts, valued at almost £20,000, were intended to become part of the White House private collection or were for the couple to keep.

A spokesman for the National Park Service, which has custody of the collection, said yesterday: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jht ml?xml=/news/2000/07/01/wbill01.xml

People will believe only what they choose to believe. Many Clinton supporters are of the opinion that the Clinton's have been "victimized" by legions of enemies, both seen and unseen. Some individuals simply do not care. They see this type of behavior as typical of the career politician and therefore excuse them as just doing "business as usual" just like everyone else who makes D.C. "service" a lifelong career.
