in 1964 did home builders use abststos floor tiles....in the homes of Eagle Estates....medford, new york?

In 1964 they absolutely did. Before the 1980's, nearly all vinyl tiles were asbestos. If the tiles are 9" x 9", they are asbestos.
If they are 12" x 12" they are still probably asbestos, unless they are not the original tiles.

Real Estate Transfer Tax in New York State NY - To be paid by seller or buyer?

I am considering purchasing a home in Nassau County, Long Island (New York State). However, I would like to know if I am supposed to pay the Real Estate Transfer tax, or if the seller of the home is. The house is brand new construction, and we are purchasing it straight from the builder. Thanks.

I am in the same boat, the person I am working with said we (buyer) would have to pay the transfer tax since it is a new construction, usually the seller is the one who would pay it since it is an old house. They quoted that we would have to pay 1.825% of the sale price of the home, which is actually a lot of money based on your home price.

Did Bush encourage Fanny Mae or Freddy Mac to insure loans to poor people?

Builders to fight Bush's low-income plan

Groups ask HUD to rethink plan that would increase financing of homes to low-income people.
June 17, 2004: 12:24 PM EDT

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Home builders, realtors and others are preparing to fight a Bush administration plan that would require Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to increase financing of homes for low-income people, a home builder group said Thursday.

The National Association of Home Builders, along with the National Association of Realtors and the Mortgage Bankers Association, are drafting a letter to Alphonso Jackson, secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), arguing that middle-income home buyers are the ones that will get hurt by the proposed plan, the NAHB told CNN/Money.

He did but it was not to encourage people to live the so called American Dream. He just wanted his base of haves and have mores to get more wealthy. Bush did not care if you had a house or lived in the streets. Poorer people were expendable to him.

  • Home builders saw second worst year in half century | OregonLive.com

WASHINGTON — Builders began work last year on the second fewest number of homes in more than half a century, as the weak economy kept people from buying houses.

Builders broke ground on a total of 587,600 homes in 2010, just barely better than the 554,000 started in 2009. Those are the two worst years on records dating back to 1959.

And the pace is getting worse. The Commerce Department reported today that builders started work at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 529,000 new homes and apartments last month. That’s a drop of 4.3 percent from November and the slowest pace since October 2009.

In a healthy economy, home builders start about one million units a year. They built twice as many in 2005, at the height of the housing boom. Since then the market has been in decline.

Unemployment remains high. Record numbers of foreclosures have forced home prices down and tight credit has made mortgages tough to...
