Small Home Furniture

I have a few friends that have started businesses, one a rug and home accessory, and another a furniture business, I have always wanted to own a small furniture and home accent business and have gone to the market in High Point NC and Atlanta Georgia.Buying from the manufacturer is not cheap and the mark up would have to be ridiculas.You also have to make major purchases to carry most lines of furniture. I would be more interested in discontinued or floor samples.They both are very successful and are hush hush about where they get their merchandise. but I do know that they get it dirt cheap and they travel to pick everything up.I am more interested in sofas. Can anyone give me some ideas where to start.

You might try joining an industry association, with which you could obtain a list of other members, including their specialty. I'm not sure which association but look for something similar to a furniture wholesalers association.

We are exposed from small insects in our home in all the Furniture?
so please if there is an Insecticide for these small insects without smell and not make for us sensitivity in the body and rash and red Stains cuse we Currently got sensitivity!! plese tell me the name for aproduct to use it and Saws it on all beds, Treasury clothes, Chairs,sofa,Rugs,and air, with good smell and not Affects on our helth. thanks

If you are referring to dust mites, you cannot get rid of them in that sense. There are however special vacuum cleaners you can buy & use that are specifically for people who are allergic. Vacuum everything, including bed mattresses, regularly.

Im going to open a small (legal) home daycare. I really would like it to flow with the decor of my home, which is a clean, classy approach of Americana Prim. I would like the playroom to be homey and welcoming like the rest of my home. I found a table and chairs set I would like to paint myself. Its pre made pine furniture and paint that sells for cheap at our local craft store.
My husband says I should have everything plastic, (like little tykes) so if they bonk their heads it wont be disasterous. These children will be under my constant supervision, and the room isnt stadium sized, so I doubt they will actually get up to speed running to cause a huge injury. I said I dont want the house to look like toys r us blew up everywhere and HE said, well, that's what kids want.
Tell me, would you as a parent 'look down' on the fact i prefer wooden furniture to plastic? I found those really cute wooden play kitchens, book shelves, and things of that nature i would like to use.
Its just a basic round table, four skinny legs, and little basic stools or chairs (depending on what the craft store has) im going nuts here trying to figure out how to get a pic on here....

no sharp corners... safety always in mind...
yes, i will find the best clear cote to put over the top, and i will use lots in order to hold up to constant wear and scrubbing!

the table is for the playroom, not the dining room, if that helps anyone..

Most nurseries in the UK have wooden furniture - it's much more durable than plastic. Little Tykes etc. isn't intended for constant commercial use, it's intended for one child who will only use it for a short time each day and will grow out of it before it wears out.

Just make sure that the finish is extremely durable - will the paint you plan to use hold up to being washed down every day and antibacterial spray being used on it every time a kid spills something on it? In a daycare you are going to be cleaning way more often than you would your own child's stuff.

I have never dealt with even the most minor of flooding. Will my stuff dry out? Are my electronics ruined? Should I now be fearing mold? Does anyone have experience in this area.

open the windows!!!! that will help to dry things out. depending on how wet your electronics got- u may be ok (ive left my window open several times during bad storms and my tv and dvd sit right in front of the window.

depending on how long the wood sat in the wetness- yes it will prob be ruined (just keep and eye on it.

for the carpet a good wet-vac is your best bet. vac your carpets as dry as pos. and keep the windows open to help dry qwicker. i believe u can rent them from lowes and home depot if you dont want to buy one.

if the flooding made it to the walls and they got wet- keep a close eye out for mold. when my apt flooded out they ended up having to replace the drywall in my living room because the mold got so bad, however the bedrooms had very little mold and they were able to treat it w/ a bleach solution.

also , the furniture should dry out w/ no prob. it may smell musty afterwards- but febreeze works wonders.
