Where to buy solid wood home office furniture?

My friend is redecorating his attic into a home office. Now he needs a nice set of furniture. What is the best place to buy a solid wood home office furniture. He doesn't deal with a limited budget, so it's OK if it not too cheap.

If you prefer retail stores, Pottery Barn, West Elm, Henredon, Ethan Allen, Drexel and Arhaus are all good places to search for.

Don't even think about super store, they sell cheap stuff. Not something you're looking for.

Also, check online stores - officefurniture.com, primeofficefurniture.com, everythingofficefurniture.com etc. There are really nice products there. Also, check out Amazon, there are always some good reviews there and you can see what buyers think of a praticular product.

If it doesn't have to be a new piece of furniture, try Craig List or ebay. Hope this helps.

Has anyone had/have +/- experience with home office furniture made by Aspen Furniture?

At Woodley's & Kacey Fine Furniture in the Denver metro area I have seen knicked/worn floor models of home office furniture made by Aspen Furniture. I am curious whether this is indicitive of the quality of the pieces and/or the manufacturer, or is it because the floor models have gotten moved around/abused at the store. The pieces are made out of hardwood & veneers. I REALLY like the collection & feel it is what I need & in my price range. However, I don't want to spend money on something that won't last but a couple years. Please advise!

Is Home Office Furniture Tax Deductible? If so, how much is deductible and what does that really mean?

My home office is based out of Texas.

Home office furniture would be tax deductible, as long as you use it only for your business. If you bought a computer for use for the business, a desk to put the computer on, a lamp to shine light on the desk and the computer, a phone line for the computer to connect to the internet, these would all be deductible Home Office Furniture as long as you used them 100% for the business. If you did then 100% of what you paid for them is deductible as a business expense in the year you bought them. The only question is though, is your home office part of a Schedule C business? If so then you can list all the assets on Form 4562 and take section 179 depreciation on them. That will let you write them totally off in the year you bought them. If you have a home office as part of your job requirement, then you would still report the assets on Form 4562 and take section 179 depreciation, but the depreciation would flow through to Form 2106 - Employee Business Expenses, which would in turn flow to Schedule A - Itemized Deductions - Miscellaneous Deductions, and would have to exceed 2% of your AGI for the excess to be deductible.

How do you arrange home office furniture?

I have a square room with large windows on the south wall, a smaller window on the east wall, a closet on the north wall, and an empty east wall. I have a large bookcase, a small cabinet, and two desks I am trying to arrange to be practical but not overwhelm and crowd the room, especially since it's all dark wood furniture. I've tried angling some of the pieces, separating the desks, putting the desks together to increase my workspace . . . I'm just confusing myself? Any suggestions? And please don't suggest those furniture arranging programs, I'd really just like to hear people's actual visions for arranging the furniture. Thank you!

How about putting one desk under the south window...then use the 2nd desk to form an L shape...(unless a 2nd person will be using this desk). If 2 people will be using the desks, put them under the south windows facing each other.

Then put the large bookcase on the east wall... under the window or beside it...with the small cabinet on the north wall (by the closet door).

With this arrangement, you can see out both windows and the door.

Have you thought about painting the desks a lighter color so the room won't be full of dark wood?
