How to make my home more appealing?

I have a nice one story home. It has wooden floors, 3 rooms and 2 bathrooms, and a great sized living room. In the living room, we have a 102 in. TV, but i feel we need to add something to our living room to make it more comfy. Also on the patio, we don't have any patio furniture and I was thinking i might need to add some. We will also be adding a Pug dog to our home November, and what should i get to make him more comfortable. Me and my husband make a $315,000 combined and we have 2 children, but we have grown to like or home in this neighborhood and don't feel a need to move into a bigger house.
What should be added?

I am assuming you have other furniture in your large living room. If so is the furniture fit to scale?
Another words is your sofa large and bulky? It should be so your big screen TV does not look like a sore thumb. We have a large screen TV also and it made the rest of the room look kind of bare so we added a Jule box to balance things out.You said you may add a new dog to the mix. May I suggest you buy a kennel for the dog (black wire instead of silver) Then place the kennel right next to the patio door so when the dog enters the room it will learn to stay there a few moments and the outside debris will end up in the kennel instead of all over the house. Pad it with a pet bed or washable blanket. Our dogs love their kennel and they can see outside. From time to time I decorate the outside of their little home with lacy curtins. They can still see thru them plus the air can still flow freely. Have great fun decorating.
Best of luck.

how much should my biz charge 4 home staging? I rent the furniture/ accessories for open houses.?

I buy the furniture, pay storage, movers, my fee. The inventory costs between 5-6 thousand (full living room set, master bedroom set, dining set, possibly patio). No other staging services in my central Florida metro area that rent furniture.

What a rediculous question. Nobody can tell you that. If you want to have an indication take the yellow pages in your neigbourhood and try to get an offerte from other companies.

They will not be very glad with you doing that if you do that under the pretense you want to hire them but instead you are setting up a business by your own.

The normal way to calculate fees is:
- what are your fixed expenses (per book-year)
- what are your mutable expenses (so per assignment)
- what is a fair profit margin in this business
- what do other companies charge

how to get the neighbors cat to go home?

our neighbor is a very kind guy, single father of two girls and i think they're pretty strapped for cash most of the time and it seems that feeding and caring for their cat is very low on their priorities. their cat is a typical neighborhood cat (we live in an apartment complex) so it's always out there when we come and go and everyone says hi to it.

we went out on our patio last week and find the cat laying there on the concrete looking like it's about to die. totally unresponsive, covered in fleas and scratches, missing most of its hair and just skin and bones. we had just given our (100% indoor) cats their flea medicine... they had recently started scratching a lot, to which we now imagine is probably due to this dirty cat laying on our patio furniture and we're probably bringing them inside (yuck) but we had one dose of medicine left, so we put it on this cat and placed food and water in front of it... it laid there like that for a couple days.

we continued to care for it until it resembled a living being again and now it will not go away. he still runs off when he hears his owners car pull up, and they usually take him in their house at night. but otherwise he is always on our patio, sitting at our door, sometimes crying, and it is driving our cats crazy. they're all fixed, but territorial. one of my cats got out today and went after it, and i am worried about it happening again. i don't want them to fight and have my cat catch something.

where do you draw the lines of helping an animal in need and finding the critter a complete nuisance (bringing fleas into our home, costing us money feeding him, upsetting our cats, etc.) and what can we do to discourage it from living on our patio all day till the owners come home? we feel so guilty about wanting him to go away, but we already have three cats that we take very good care of, and just don't have extra money to feed an extra mouth.

side note: our patio is enclosed with a fence that does not go all the way to the ground, so the neighbors cat is able to walk right in to our space. i would appreciate any helpful suggestions that might be good for us and our cats, as well as the poor neighbor cat. thank you!

Pick it up and drag it over to the other house. If it tries to come back put it in a box (with airholes) and leave it on the doorstep with a note.

Stranger's Keys On My Patio Furniture?

My husband came home and found a set of keys on the table on our back porch. We live in a bad neighborhood. The keys have a pink coiled lanyard, an old car key, and two Looney-Toons themes copied keys; not really threatening, but a part of me wants to turn them over to the cops so they can find out what this person was doing so close to my back door while I was home alone. The keys have a KMart discount card, so I could easily take them to the local Kmart and have them contact the person they have on file, but then I'd not find out who they were or why they were in my backyard.
What would you do?

How can I arrange a small, furnished apartment to make it look and feel larger?

I am living in a small, furnished apartment in Costa Rica and it would be great if it felt more like home. The main room (which is comprised of the kitchen, "dining room", and sitting area) is an awkward L-shape. The furniture is actually more like patio furniture. I am a teacher, so buying large pricey furniture isn't yet an option. If anyone knows of any good sites, multifunctional pieces, or tips please help me.

In a small apartment you want small and uncluttered. You live where the weather is great and if your furniture is outdoorsy looking, just go very tropical. Futons are good. I used to have a table that pulled pulled up and chained to the wall. When I needed it I just let it down. There are also table that have drop leaves. I have a very small house and I bought an outdoor very small metal table and then antique chairs at an auction. I put up shelves cause I have a lot of stuff but I made sure they were narrow shelves. And one day I got mad at how much room my couch took and I pitched it into the trash and bought a leather vibrating recliner. If you come to my house you will sit on chairs and if you eat at my house, your plate will be in your lap. I do intend to get some stack tables but haven't. Just put your table in the middle of the L and call it your dining room. If you get a fold up one, you can push it to the wall when you don't have guests and have more room. Just get creative and don't worry about what others have in their rooms because they have room.

  • Harmonious Outdoor Living; Beyond Home & Garden

A new lifestyle trend that you will see in most architectural or interior magazine is outdoor living. As a homeowner I am sure you have seen the articles and have died to start renovating. If trends are anything to go by, the main living space in your home, no longer needs to be indoors. In fact in our new environmentally conscious psyche, it is imperative that it not be. A well thought outdoor living area can often be the most used space for your family. It can also greatly appreciate the price of your property as a value addition. If you plan to seriously indulge in a lifestyle, which involves outdoor living one of the things you will have to consider is security and privacy measures for this area. Whether you choose an intimate privacy fence or secured fencing, privacy is a major factor as youll want to keep your outdoor living area warm & inviting, yet private. Furniture will, of course, play a large part in your outdoor living area. There are many types of outdoor furniture and garden...
