Home Office Storage Furniture

I am building a home office. Most L-shaped corner desks I've seen have drawers on one side and a storage compartment on the other. Though stores show storage area used for CPU, they are not vented/engineered for that. I can vent using a 2 inch hole saw and a 120 V AC 3 inch CPU/Hobby fan mounted onto back of desk - without destroying integrity of structural soundness according to the furniture Co's engineer.
Is 65 CFM too much? Or is 24 CFM too little?

it wont even be close to enough ... if u are enclosing the pc box i would say u would need (10) 2" fans at least .. i would open the back and leave the front open .. or plan some space on top to set the box would be even better ..

Smart executive office desks and modern executive office seating goes a long way in encouraging this.

I think that just "Credenza" would suffice. I did find "Credencia" in Spanish, usually associated with an altar piece for a church. My use would just be the usual sense that we use "credenza" in English for home or office furniture. Can you help?

We purchased a lot of unfinished wood furniture for our home office. Basically desks, filing cabinets, drawers and large storage cabinets that will line 2 walls of the room. We have hardwood red oak floors in the room.

My question is, should we paint it or stain it? Originally we planned on staining it, but are having issues with doing that ourselves. I always thought painting wood furniture was only for junky old furniture you got at garage sales, but my husband thinks it might look nice.

Any opinions?

If the furniture is a nice hard wood, I would not paint it. If it's pine, you can paint or stain. Remember if you plan on staining a soft wood like pine, use a pre-conditioner to prevent the soft wood from absorbing too much stain and coming out with a darker tone than you expect.

I really really really want a desk in my room but my room is kind of small and I have a big like canopy bed.

The bad has been in the family so my mom doesn't ant to sell it.

We've been talking about what we can do to get me a desk and I thought I could get this furniture and turn my bed sideways. I did the calculations and a desk would fit. Tell me what you think.


I tried to not spend a lot of money to help persuade them. I would have to get rid of my nightstand so maybe we could sell that.

Please help. I really need a desk. It will help me a lot with school. I know it. My mom also really wants me to get a desk.

heres my idea (and what i did in my room!)
i set up a low coffee table as my desk- its roughly 1.5-2.5 off the ground. i put a pillow on the floor, and viola! a desk! if you have back-issues get bedrest pillow or even just a low beach chair.

I'm trying to organize and break more into this home that I live in with my boyfriend. However, we're still 1/2 in boxes, some of our rooms are full of them (and dog hair) we don't have any storage devices-- heck, we don't even have a vacuum cleaner or a dishwasher.

Since we're low on money (we're all young- just out of home with our parents, and own a house...so no spare moneys for us) I'm looking for cheap furniture places. None of those old, stuffy styles (ie, no wood items, nothing fancy- minimalist is preferable). I recently found out there's no IKEA out here- I didn't know, since I'm not from around here. Is there anywhere with furniture under a hundred bucks? We're looking for a desk/bookshelf/cabinet/CD organizer with drawers that can hold up a mini fridge, a buncha books, two laptops, and fit in a small room. As well as an affordable office chair. Anything over a hundred bucks is out of the question entirely, and we can't drive out of the state or really out of the city at all since gas is too expensive; we also have small cars.

Along with this, the place will need to contain storage devices (cheap plastic ones), mats, cleaning supplies, something to grab for lunch nearby, and mini shelves to arrange our shoes since we use one huge closet. Thanks!
