There used to be a "used item" warehouse nearby Kallang MRT. However, it's gone now. Don't know where it has moved to. Does anyone have any idea of their new location?
You might want to try ebay or maybe the classifieds (online or straits times) to clear your furniture. Don't think there's really much of market for second hand furniture unless they are antiques.

He has been living in the house for 3 years. He was working towards his graduate degree when my mother passed away so he was able to move down there to "take care of business". He was appointed executor of the will, and the will simply stated that all assets were to be divided equally. I live in the USA with my husband and daughter and have no intention of moving to Mexico. I was able to travel to care of expenses and paperwork to close the estate. I do like to travel to Mexico once a year for about a week to visit family. My brother had started out "taking care of the house" while we decided what to do. After 3 months I decided it is not in my best interest to have a large house in Mexico that I will only see one week a year, so I decided I want to either sell my half of the house to my brother or sell the house entirely. My brother stated he could not buy me out and does not want to sell it. He wanted to try renting out rooms and the warehouse for income. I agreed to him trying this for 2 years since he did not have a job, then we needed talk again about selling the house. We agreed to split the income of the rentals since the house is in both our names. He has been using the rent money to pay for all the utilities including a house keeper and lawn maintenance man. AFter the expenses is when he thought we should split the income, which was not much. I disagree and do not believe I need to contribute to his personal expenses. I am willing to help out with the cost of the renter's utilities but it is difficult to figure out exactly how much that would be. i believe he gets the benefit of living in a mortgage free house and use furniture that I have paid half for. In october 2008 he finally agreed to selling the house. At the end of august 2009 we finally got a decent offer considering the economy. We tried to negotiate to get a better price for about a month then after two counteroffers I was agreeable to settling on the buyers price. I let the real estate agent know right away that I was ready to sell and my brother took another week and a half to respond. The real estate agent stated the buyer thought we weren't going to sell because it took too long and found a different house. He has admitted that he does not want to sell the house but feels forced into the situation because I want to sell. He has not come up with any alternatives such as finding a job and working out a payment plan to buy me out. He recently stated that he does not want the house for himself, he wanted to keep it for both of us a memento of our mom. But he lives there and I can only visit once a year because I work and have a family. I do not have the support of my aunts and uncles to sell because they think the economy is poor and we could get more money later. So in the mean time Should I be contributing to the utilities of the house while we are waiting to sell? What would be fair? He wants to continue renting rooms in the house because this is his only income. I think it is not fair that I work, take care of my daughter (another child is due in april), and try to keep track of the bank balance in Mexico. My brother refuses to let me know how much bills are. I'm in a completely complicated situation and do not know what to do. I try to be confident but my brother tries to make me feel guilty for wanting to sell the house. Please help.
I have talked to my lawyer in Mexico and he has spoken to my brother and knows that he has verbally agreed to sell the house but I have played phone tag with him for a month now regarding the rent issue on what my brother is responsible for as far as house expenses. While it is for sale should I charge him rent? He doen't have much income and has not found a job, it seems like it is by choice, because I'm sure starbucks or Mcdonalds would hire him, he just hasn't tried or thinks he is too good for that.
OMG, me and my fiance were just talking about who we should leave our house to ( she has 2 grown boys) one is responsible, the other one not so much. I mentioned to her that there would be some sort of fighting between them , and your story just put it all in perspective. I will sell it before I die..... and spend all the money,LOL
To get back to your dilemma. It is not your problem that he doesn't have a job and can't buy you out. I know hes your brother but damn this has been going on for a couple of years now. Its time to sell it.
Seriously, what does he expect you to do,give him the house. I really don't think hes looking at it from you point of view.
I hate to come across so mean but even family members will take advantage of you, if you let them,GL....I would love to know the outcome of this

I have just moved into a home, and we all appear to be getting bitten by fleas since moving in. We've seen them. Thing is, I don't have any pets. The previous tenants in the home DID have a cat that went outdoors. The apartment has no carpeting--it has bare wooden or tile floors, depending on the room. How is it possible that the fleas have continued on if there is no carpeting or pets in between the time the last tenant moved out and I moved in?
Although I have no pets now, I did have a cat last year in my previous home. My furniture has been in air conditioned warehouse storage for the past year before we finally moved here, and consists of leather chairs and sofas, large area rugs, a memory foam bed that doesn't not allow bugs to live, plus whatever bedding and linens I had. Is it possible my cat brought home fleas in my last home before we packed up, and infested my bedding and throw rugs? Would the fleas still be alive after a year in storage and no hosts to live off of? Seems to me, the previous tenant's cat is the more likely culprit, but there was no carpeting or pets for fleas to hang around in!
And the bigger burning question is...we've set off 3 bombs in our 1200 sf home, and are still getting bit--how on earth do I get rid of these suckers??!
Antikythera, thanks for your detailed answer. These are definitely fleas, and not bed bugs. They look like grains of course ground black pepper, and when you hit them or swat them, they leap off very quickly...they're hard to kill by squashing.
My husband also pointed out that when I looked at the apt, I got bites each time. I chalked it up to the outside, when I had gone to check the yard. Conversely, I don't recall ever getting bitten when I had my cat. It's got to be fleas that were already here, and it looks like they enjoy hiding under the floorboard. An exterminator seems in order.
Two things:
1) Fleas can live in furniture and bedding and cracks in the floor, as well as carpeting. They will hide wherever an animal or person likes to visit, and jump on whenever that food source is there.
2) Fleas can go dormant and live for a long time in a place where there are no food sources, and then wake up when they sense that an animal is around.
If the previous tenants had a cat, and the cat brought fleas in, the fleas could still be there. They've slept and they came out when you showed up. If your cat did not show any signs of fleas, this is more likely than your cat giving fleas to stuff that went into storage.
As for the flea bombs -- are you sure that it's fleas? Fleas are little black/brown jumping things. You'll see a little speck, and if you go to touch it or squish it, it'll disappear because it jumps so fast. If you haven't seen fleas, it's more likely that you have something like bedbugs.
Either way, if off-the-shelf remedies don't work, get a professional to take care of it, or contact your landlord.

I am a 30 year old male who has been working in the warehouse of a furniture/appliance/matress/electronics store for 6 years. And in that store there is a coffee house. In the first 3 years of me working at that I have been going to that coffee shop inside my store. The owner is chinese lady and her husband(in their early 40's). When I'd go we'd joke around with co-workers and the owners of that coffee house. I have been giving that lady business for those three years. I would also leave a tip in the tip mug. I noticed she was always nervous around me. Once when I was in the warehouse she came to throw out her garbage and said something to me. Since her english isn't the greatest I could not really understand what she saying. She wrote down a email and password, and she gave me that piece of paper. Later after work I rushed home and entered that email address and password. I was shocked at all(100's) of "I miss you entries". Now she is following my car. What do I do?
Just be pleasantly surprised

Scary man tools will be replaced by decorative trinkets and stylish furniture at the new Home Depot pilot store designed to attract women. Dubbed "Her Depot," the store will abandon Home Depot's warehouse aesthetic in favor of shorter, "cleaner" aisles that emphasize home organization and interior design.

I find this very sexist and no I would not shop there. It sounds demeaning and condescending. My father was an engineer, and a pilot. He taught both skills for years. He raised me believing I could do anything. He taught me self determination, how to build, fly, do my best and also how to be an expert shot on the shooting range.
