I was approved for a home loan for 280k to buy some land and build a home. The initial loan will be a construction loan and I was wanting to know if I can include the purchase of furniture in that loan before it is rolled into a VA loan. The total cost of the land and home won't equal the 280k so can I use some of it for the furniture? Just curious! ;o) I need items like bed for myself and my kids, washer and dryer, sofa and dining set.
Xube, I would not do this. The reason is that I would not want to finance furniture for 30 years. The washer and dryer will certainly wear out before then. Because of the time and interest, anything (!) will cost over two times its cost in the pay-back. Better that you use cash and eat beans and peanut butter for a month.

Dan

..said that we were evicted, although we were never given an eviction notice..My father in law woke to find four men inside our home moving our furniture out..the police responded and all were arrested and charged with break and enter. What i am wondering is what options do i have for a law suit towards my land Lord now? My girlfriend has been terrified ever since,is pregnant and stressed right out,she also suffers from post traumatic stress, this home invasion has us all on edge, nervous and very upset..what type of civil suit can we launch against our Land Lord?
Also while they were in our home they cut the power cords to our air conditioner, and washer.

Your LL used a wrong way to evict you. He definitely has no right to enter your unit and throwing your belongings out by just hiring some men out on the street. Did you find out why your LL want to evict you? Did you pay your rent on time? He suppose to send you 3-day notice to move out. If you don't, then he can file to court for unlawful detainer and you will be notified of the hearing date at court. When the judge put you at default, a police office will sent to your place to lock you out. You'll then have to pay the LL for getting your belongings back or he'll transfer it to a dumpster.

own our land have a trailer buying a modular home and want to know the moving process do i have to store furniture and then move in or do they leave the old home close to make moving easier
Ask the folks doing the freight and installation. They can tear down the old and temp move it on site while installing the new home. But moving a modular full of furniture can be a problem -- weight, shifting, exposure if it's a double-wide. All of which can mean damaged furniture.
Of course, you may have to make arrangements to have the old home completely out of the way before the new one can be delivered.

I am looking to buy a peice of land in Pennsylvania. It is 6.88 acres. I would like to build a home that is two or three bedrooms and 2 or 3 bathrooms. It should also have a living room dining room kitchen office and a basement and possibly and extra room. around how much do you think it would cost to build such a house? including painting the walls and carpeting or tileing or wooding the floors. all the stuff you need for a hosue except furniture cause i already have my own.
Call around to local builders for your area's average price per square foot. Once you decide on the size of the house you want you can figure the basic cost with the average price for your area. In my areas basic builds are $125.00 per square foot..your location will vary. This will not include land/septic/hookups/driveway/landscaping.. just the house.
I moved into a disgusting roach infested apartment. Of course we didnt notice them at first, because they're german roaches, (so they are small) they only came out at 3 am (before the infestation got too bad, now they are out all the time) We have done everything in our power to get rid of them, even had the exterminator out a few times. Not even a slight improvement. Well anyways, theyre in every room now, including the closets. The dilemma is that were moving soon, and I dont want the raoches to follow us. Should I get rid of all the furniture and stuff that would be hard to rid of roaches, or should I try and bomb it? Were moving into a newly built home, so I dont want to take even a SLIGHT risk that we could take the raoches with us. I want to leave this nightmare behind. So...to leave or not to leave? Also, can I milk anything out of the land lord for this?
You should negotiate with your landlord to pay ALL of the costs for your move. My suggestion is do not take the furniture, once infested always infested. Do not bring your moving boxes into your home. Wash everything as your remove it from the apartment and pack it in the truck this includes the bottoms of all of your shoes and your clothes and bathroom items. Do NOT take any unnecessary cardboard boxes from inside the house. This includes cereal boxes. Put everything into plastic ziploc bags. Wipe off canned food as well. Any wood and metal furniture and mattresses you can take but I suggest putting it all in your driveway, covering it with a tarp and bombing it anyway. Have an exterminator do preventative treatment before you move into your new place too. If the landlord doesn't want to pony up (of course this is assuming you complained about this in the first place) then take him to small claims court for your moving expenses and replacement of any household items that you left behind. PS You should really turn them in to your local Housing Authority as well.
