The furniture was great with both of us having head colds on buying it but now the stench of cigarette smoke just lingers in the room. We tried spraying it and even had the carpet cleaner try. Is there someone out there with another home remedy maybe?

Cigarette smoke is awful. I once bought a house. Everytime I viewed it the windows were open and I never noticed the fact that the owner was a heavy smoker. When I moved in it was IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of the smoke smell.

I once tried to remove cigarette smoke from a set of curtains. NEVER worked.

My recommendation is sell them to a smoker.

Hi,
I am trying to decorate my home on a budget and am going to Dallas. I am looking for stores that sell vintange, shabby chic, or other unique, reasonably priced furniture. Any ideas on where I can go? I am looking for fabric, rugs, and accessories too, new or used. Any places you could describe would be REALLY appreciated! THANKS!!!!!

I have a 900 square foot house. Where can I find furniture and storage solutions for small homes? What about design ideas? How can I make my house look bigger inside?

me and my boyfriend have just bought our first home and will be moving in just before christmas, so far we have,
-blinds
-beds, bedding, pillows
-fridge/freezer
-dining table/chairs
-television/stands/dvd/games consoles etc
-tumble dryer
-settee

it already has built in oven/hob/grill, dishwasher, wardrobes/drawers.

i am trying to compile a list of other things we need so we can tick them off as we get them. has anyone got any ideas?

Greg, because i would like to think that there are some people who actually have set up a home for the first time and know what is needed. I just dont want to miss anything off the list.

coffee table and/or end tables
lamps for living room and bedroom
dishes, silverware, pots and pans, bakeware
flashlight
towels (bath and kitchen)
doormat for front door
cleaning supplies
vacuum cleaner
cooking utensils (spatula, tongs, measuring cups and spoons, etc)
can opener
toolkit
washing machine

if you have a yard either hire someone to mow it or you will need a lawn mower, weed eater, etc.

rugs, artwork, curtains to make it your own :)

Have fun and enjoy your new place! You will come up with more once you get setlled. And you might get some stuff you need for Christmas too!
