I just moved into a 3-bdrm place until school starts (September). The place is unfurnished. Other than a fold up plastic desk, office chair, and minimal kitchen supplies I have nothing else. I'm collecting cardboard boxes for clothes (I have hangers for the closet, but boxes for everything else). I currently have $20 in my bank account to cover groceries and furniture until the next payday (check comes on Friday, the bank's hold on it will be released by the Tuesday afterwords)
What's the best way to spend my money? I figure I'll need at least $7-$10 for food, because my fridge is almost empty.
I really need something to sleep on... is there anything I can do to make the floor/sleeping bag situation more comfortable?
get resourses from community action and go to the Salvation army tell them you are poor.

From the Consumerist:
Scary man tools will be replaced by decorative trinkets and stylish furniture at the new Home Depot pilot store designed to attract women. Dubbed "Her Depot," the store will abandon Home Depot's warehouse aesthetic in favor of shorter, "cleaner" aisles that emphasize home organization and interior design.

I find this very sexist and no I would not shop there. It sounds demeaning and condescending. My father was an engineer, and a pilot. He taught both skills for years. He raised me believing I could do anything. He taught me self determination, how to build, fly, do my best and also how to be an expert shot on the shooting range.

What is the efficient way of lighting an apartment (mainly living room and bedrooms)?
We have electricity included in rent but we should install bulbs or lamps for lighting.
I am a person who needs bright lights at dusk and less furniture at home as well.
Thus if i have to buy table lamps or floor lamps which one is ideal?
Or can a bulb directly plugged to plug point still look good?
ceiling, floor, table, either one, it all depends on the wattage of the bulb. the higher the wattage, the higher the bill. good luck!

I'm going to be devoting a room in my house to my plants, and I'm looking for some unique, slightly vintage-y decor that revolve around a botanical theme. I'm mostly looking for wallpaper, curtains, and furniture to put my plants on. To give you an idea of the style I'm looking for, I LOVE stuff like this:

But that's too expensive for me, so anyone know of any sites with less expensive, but unique home decor?
Goodwill
Salvation Army
or any 'opportunity shop' where second hand is possibly 1st rate for savings.
Regardless of 'name brands', nearly any items may be found which replicate the look without the retail cost.
