Hi, I heard that furniture is oftentimes sourced and made in North and South Carolina. I was wondering how to go about finding reputable wholesale dealers that could ship furniture to me for a home.

Some years ago, I had to go to Hickory, NC. They had a three story shopping mall filled with nothing but furniture stores. So Hickory, NC would be a good starting point, plus, in speaking with them, they had transportation available and made weekly trips throughout the US. People would buy there and then have it shipped to their front doors at home.

I'm not real familiar with the prices of furniture, but the group that I went with said that the prices were cheap as compared to what they paid for similar pieces at home.

I am shopping for furniture for my home. I found a dealer offering very good prices, where he charges a slight margin % on the dealer catalogue price. He is offering these brands:

Coaster
Homelegance
HomelineFurniture

I am looking to buy dining and bedroom furniture - If you have experience with these brands, can you please suggest which is a good brand or share your experience - based on quality of wood or veneer, furniture construction / design etc..because, he doesn't have all these brands and models in stock and one has to order based on catalogue pictures. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here's one thing I'll recommend based on my experience: for the dining table: make sure it's geniune wood. It will wear better and look good in every decor. Make sure it's simple enough in style that's true.
We bought a oak butcher block table when we were first married 27 years ago and it's moved everywhere (we're military), I've done every sort of projects and sewing on it and it wears like a champion. Still looks good.

I want to buy a desk for my home. I would like a nice one, not a cheapy flimsy one.

In this economic climate where a lot of businesses are unfortunately closing down, where can I go to buy a desk (almost new) from a company which is liquidated?

Does anyone know any salvage dealers which may have these desks?

I only want one, but am looking for good quality at a reduced price.
