What are some good sites to buy patio furniture from?

I'm looking for clearance or lower priced sites. Not into E-Bay, and I've looked at Walmart, Kmart, Lowe's and Home Depot. I'm looking for both an outdoor dining set and a conversation area set.

Thanks in advance!

How about Sears or JC Penney.

How to remove mildew smell from "new" furniture?

We bought a set of 3 slightly worn but nice-looking tables (2 with 12" wood circular tops, and 1 with an 18" circular top) from the clearance section at Sears. After bringing them home we've discovered that the wood has a hideous, overpowering "mildew" smell. These appear to be laminated.

We really like the appearance of the tables (with metal stands), and of course we can't find similar ones anywhere, so we'd like to find a way to make these work.

I've tried washing several times with bleach & water and some other cleaning solutions, with no apparent effect at all. I've read through a number of "mildew smell in wood" questions & answers here but all the answers seem quite similar -- use bleach & water, use mildew-removing cleansers, set out in the sun for a day or two -- but they aren't working.

If we can't find some way to get rid of the smell, we'll probably try to remove and discard the current wooden tops, and replace them with new ones from Home Depot or somewhere.

I had the same problem and I just washed the furniture with Pine-sol and used actual lemon wood oil to keep the wood moist.

It'll go away it just takes time and lots of fresh air and TLC. The wood oil did the most, in my opinion, did the most to get rid of the smell

38 Single mother of 2 engaged to be married but I HATE the way my fiance` treats me now.?

I have been a single Mother for going on 13yrs. I recently thought I found the love of my life. We lived 5hrs away from each other and only got to see each other about every other weekend, but we talked every night on the phone. He in the last month moved here to live with my two kids and I. I feel like nothing I do is good enough for him and the way I do things is wrong. He has no children, but no matter what I do to handle issues with my children he comes along behind me and and either changes what I have said or says I was wrong and this is the way it will be. He hates my home, my furniture my dishes, my clothes. I am simple in my ways. That includes not being high maintenance, I don't do pedicures and manicures and facials and spa days. I am clean but most of my clothes come off of the clearance rack. What is important to me is bills get paid food in the house and my kids have what they need. I don't have the latest style in clothes or hair, but I don't look thrown together or mismatched, just not expensive or name brand. He was so in love with who I was and now I feel like I am not good enough for him anymore. Is it just me to set in my ways to have someone come into my life after so many years being on my own or should I give it time? I love him, but most days I am ready to ask him to leave

What process should I follow to ship personal effects from Thailand to the US?

Background Info: My wife is a Thai citizen (permanent US resident), and I am a US citizen. We got married last year, and we visited family in Thailand this summer. While we were there, we purchased a piece of furniture for our home in the US. We had it shipped via a Thai shipping company, and filled out whatever forms the shipper gave us including cost of the item, etc...This was at the end of July.

Situation: Yesterday, a US cargo company called me saying their agent notified them of our impending delivery. She then went on to ask if we needed assistance with brokerage/clearance... and mentioned a possible $5,000 fine.

Wow! I don't know whether to think she is trying to get us to pay for unnecessary services, or if I'm in a bit over my head.

Bottom line question(s): I read on the CBP website (customs and border patrol), that there's a CBP Form 3299 "Declaration For Free Entry of Unaccompanied Articles"... would that apply to our circumstance? If not, can you please advise as to what forms, if any, we need to file? Thanks so much in advance! :-)

A possible fine for what? - - I imported furniture and wood items as well as other stuff for years. Because it was commercial, I needed a customs broker and had to pay the usual fees - - but this sounds like someone is trying to hose you. Ask them what the fine might be for?

why would a US cargo co. be involved?

having a piece of furniture clear customs should not be a big deal though I did find that some ports of entry were more difficult to deal with than others.

Ask questions. Call customs.

What should I do if landlord is trying to stick me with mold damages that aren't my fault?

This past December has been a very cold one and I've been running the wall heater and an additional heater I procured in order to keep my apartment warm. I noticed an unusual amount of condensation in the air and sticking to the walls. So, thinking nothing of it I just wiped down the walls as the condensation formed. Well right after Christmas my mother went out of country on a three week trip and asked me to look after her house since there had been some suspicious occurrences there at that time. So I spent most of the night there each night during that time but I left my heaters on at home because my kitten was still there and I didn't want her to freeze. Also I took all my showers there during that time period. So when my mom gets back I go home and I start to notice mold around the house.

At first I just wipe it off and don't think too much about it, I figure it is just because I was gone for so long. Well the problem VERY quickly spreads around my bedroom and bedroom closet area and it becomes apparent that there is a real problem. So I called my landlord and they fixed it in a couple of days ( I think, they didn't check in the walls or anything, they just painted over it) but now he is trying to stick me with the painting bills. He says that I caused the mold in a letter he had the painters give me when they were leaving, and listed some reasons that are completely false. He lists
1. Not keeping the house warm enough
2. Having furniture too close to walls
3. Taking showers with fan off and improper ventilation
4. Over stuffing closet
5. And ammonia from pet odor from cat box
Well, when he came over he was sweating and that is the normal temperature we keep the house at because my girlfriend has poor circulation. Where else do you put beds and dressers besides near the wall, nothing was touching the wall and there was about an inch or two of clearance for everything. The bathroom fan has been broken and I told him so when I first moved in five months ago, also I take cold showers to combat the apartment heat and we both open windows when we shower. Even more, we weren't taking any showers there while at my mom's house. He never saw how we kept our closet normally, he just saw our living room when we had to pull all our clothes out from all our dressers, even the ones that aren't in the closet because they were all wet. The cat box was a little dirty when he came over because for the last few days we'd been gutting our room and closet to save as much as we could from the mold and hadn't cleaned it. But it still was not bad and he lists on the letter "eye burning ammonia from pet odor." Also, because the carpet in the closet got wet from all the moisture and he could smell the cat box he is trying to charge me to replace all the carpet and padding in the apartment.

I don't think the mold is my fault at all and a handyman I know came over and said the cause was likely from an faulty AC unit that was improperly installed letting cold air and moisture into the bedroom through the bedroom window. He also noted that he could feel drafts in the kitchen and said that we likely had an insulation problem. The mold caused all sorts of health problems from nausea to coughing blood and ruined a lot of my things, some which were family heirlooms. Is there any way to keep him from spending all my deposit on something that wasn't my fault and maybe even make him reimburse me for everything I've had to dispose of? I took extensive pictures of the mold and still have some of the furniture there (I've been having to stay over at other people's houses to avoid further health problems).

First, this guy has it wrong, you are not talking about mold. This is common mildew. Mold would not grow on a painted wall (but would on bare wood) and would not grow where there is light.

You can not be charged with mold damage, as this is NOT mold.

He can not gripe about the temp, too cold would not hurt, in fact MILDEW likes it very warm. He can not gripe about furniture, it has no effect.

He CAN about not ventilating the house, even without a shower you should have opened windows at the first sign on condensation. This is just common sense.

The closet is none of his business.

The cat is just gross.

This is all confusing, as the causes you list all would actually prevent mildew from growing, not cause it all. Drafts circulate air, do not trap it inside. I am surprised your handyman did not point this out, it actually sounds like he thinks drafts cause mildew, which is crazy. He also should have known you are not even talking about mold, this is common mildew (black, grows as round spots).

I would be inclined to think you caused this, trying to deal with your GF's circulation problems by over heating the house and keeping it closed up and not allowing moisture to escape.
