Home Furniture Center

It is more vertical than horizontal. It has many smallish compartments and even drawers. The small T.V. only barely fits into the biggest space. Is this piece of furniture called a home entertainment center? It looks more like a dresser. What is another word for it?

You may have an armoire, which is a French term for this sort of closet cabinet, albeit yours is not designed for clothing but for electronics.

Not sure if you're needing to find a special cabinet, if you are in NY you can order a custom cabinet from here with your own dimensions and shelving/doors too.

My housemate got some great cabinets in blue (!) but it looks great. They have many colors to choose from.

I was recently at one in VA Beach and just really fell in love with the furniture and would like to purchase it. I tried to ask them but they had no idea.

They usually have Berkline furniture on display. In some stores, like Magnolia Home Theater, you can purchase them. I would try looking at Berkline online.

I just experienced my first 3 red rings on my 360. I wanted to know if i should keep my new one in my home entertainment center. It's a piece of furniture where i put my dvd player, xbox, receiver, and wii. It's pretty open but kinda tight on the sides and there are a lot of wires in the back. Also people told me that buying a fan for the 360 is not worth it.

If your new 360 is a second generation or newer (which it should be, unless you bought it used), you may be alright putting it in an entertainment center. Just make sure you have at LEAST 2" of clearance on all sides. If your cabinet has doors, make sure you open them up while playing, even if it's an open-backed cabinet.

If it's a first generation box (Xenon or Zephyr motherboard), then I would strongly discourage placing it inside any enclosed area. You can tell which version you have by looking at the power supply connector (the end that you plug into your console). If there is a peg in the middle of the two rows of plugs, then it's first gen and you should keep it as cool as possible.

I have a first generation (in fact, a launch day system) that I've never had a problem with, but I never kept it in a cabinet, and I never put a third party intercooler on it.

I also have a Halo system (Falcon) which I have kept in my entertainment center since I got it, and I've also had no problems with it. I keep it on a shelf by itself with 2" of clearance on the sides, and 6" above it.

Both the Falcon and the Jasper (started shipping 4th qtr 2008) are much, much, much more reliable and deal with heat so much better than the first run systems.

My boyfriend is clearing out his moms apartment as she has recently been moved into an Assisted Living Center. She has several pieces of furniture (couch, chairs, a table etc) that we would like to donate to a charity, rather than throw them away. We live in Montclair, New Jersey. Can any-one recommend a charity that would be interested in picking up these items? Thanks!!

I had a similar situation to your boyfriend. My mother has lots of stuff and they came and were great and did all the work.
