I'm going down to the states in a month and looking forward to bringing a complete living room set into Canada. This will be for my own home and not for re-sell purposes. Will I be charged customs and Taxes on my furniture entering Canada!?
And what is the most efficient (Time and Cost) to ship the furniture?
You will indeed by charged customs and Taxes when you bring your furniture.

Hello!
I'm thinking about getting pieces of furniture from Bombay in Canada which total price will be around $ 800. It will be a day trip from Seattle to Vancouver, and would like to know if there's any duty I need to pay at the border or any limit or regulation I should know.
Could you please advise?
THANK YOU!
You're asking this question on the wrong side of the border. The people who will impose duty or have importation regulations, are the US customs officers. So you have to contact US customs (they probably have a website if you google it). You can take whatever you want out of Canada, but there are regulations about what you can bring into the US

Put an ad in The Montreal Gazette or La Presse. There`s a huge market for second hand furniture. I am sure you will get it all sold quickly.

We are Canadian and moving to the U.S. We have applied for our L1 petition but have not had it approved yet. We will keep our Canadian house but have purchased a home (second home) in Arizona and would like to move our furniture from our Canada home to the U.S. home over the Christmas vacation time. We don't know if we will have our visa petition approved yet or not, but do expect to get approval. Will the border crossing allow us to take our furniture/belongings to our second home without the visa or do we have to wait for it. What if we were just taking furniture to furnish our 2nd home, shouldn't we be able to bring our stuff from Canada and then buy new stuff for our Canada home?
The US border inspectors will want to see and check on the computer, your immigration documents. No papers, no entry, with a truck load of furniture, for sure. See it from their side, you could be any one.
Get the proper documents, THEN cross. It is a VERY good idea to have a manifest list, with three copies, of everything that is on that truck. Be prepared to have it inspected, very closely. Number each box, and mark the contents of the box, on the outside of it. Describe any thing that has a serial number on it, as to brand name, model number and when it was bought in Canada. Anything that you bring into the USA, will be duty free, provided that you declare it at the border, as settler's effects. That covers any personal belongings and any "tools of the trade " that you need to do work in the USA. If you use the proper US customs forms and lists, that you can down load from the internet, you will be treated better at the border.
Be prepared to be delayed for at least one to two hours at the port of entry, even if everything goes well. You are not a priority for them. Be patient and whatever you do, don't lose your temper, or you could be there for a week . Smile and grit your teeth.

I am looking to redo my parents living room. It is really bare and cluttery. We are planning to repaint but I need a place where I can go get some modern accessories/furniture (lamps/end tables/curtains/etc) at a reasonable cost. I shop mainly in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Any help or suggestions are welcome and appreciated!!
If you have an IKEA near you, it is a great choice for modern, clean line furniture and furnishings. If you want to go for traditional or antique look, look on E-Bay or some local antique shops. Online, you can also try Overstock.com. Good luck
