Trees contain a lot of carbon and they are very efficient in taking carbon out of the atmosphere.
Young growing trees remove more carbon than old mature trees.
If the harvested trees were used to make homes, cabinets, furniture, and baseball bats, the carbon would be sequestered almost forever.
Would a good solution to the "Global Warming" problem be to harvest old growth forests and replant the forest with younger saplings?
Should we start harvesting the trees in old growth forests to help save the planet?
I'm glad Jim Z finally exposed one of his alter egos (PrettyBoy). You posted the exact same paragraph, word by word.
nuff said?
Oh... to answer the question: I do really enjoy suggestions like this that expose the cognitive dissonance of the greenshirts. The real challenge here would be to get some of them to take up this cause.. then they'll fight with each other tooth and nail and be exceptionally entertaining for the rest of us.
Trees absorb a lot of carbon. When a tree is burned or allowed to decay, the carbon is released back into the environment.
Log homes and wood furniture are kept for many, many years keeping the carbon in the trees sequestered for as long as these items exist.
More log homes require more trees sinking the atmospheric carbon while preventing this carbon from going back into the environment.
Would log homes be as useful as wind turbines and solar power in the fight to reduce co2?
Should we be clear cutting more forests to help reduce excess co2 as long as new trees are planted? New trees consume more carbon than mature trees.
It makes more sense than most of the nonsense offered by the greenshirts.
That said, I prefer the cosmetic effects of larger trees.
Those of you who say the "R" value of wood is zero have clearly never been in a log cabin in the winter. They're very nice.
Edit:
This is one of the reasons the greenies simply hate skeptics.
The most practical solution to the most pressing problem their religion has - involves destroying it's holy icons.
We all know that they are shaken to their core at the idea of actually cutting a tree. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygY57FdRc r0&feature=related)
I hope this goes farther so I can see the emotional results of so much cognitive dissonance. It should be hilarious to watch them argue with each other passionately over this one.
Here's a copy of the email. I want to know if it's legit? And if anyone has tried it before? I've also received other emails like this but from Ashley Furniture.

Who does not remember sitting at 'home' of the grandfathers of study or library as a child, staring in amazement at the huge and complex rich library of books that dominated the whole street on the roof. With these memories in mind, anyone can appreciate the library as an essential element of home furnishings. Not only is it very functional and offers plenty of space to store reserves of knowledge and literature that a person can have, but also serve as a good display libraries are almost always used to put family portraits and other trinkets on the screen . In fact, a house can hardly be complete without a quality collection to serve as the center of attention in one of the rooms most used and displayed in the house. Depending on the particular floor of a house plant, libraries are typically stored in one of several rooms of some of them: for large houses with many rooms, usually there is a room designated as a study or library, sometimes The libraries can also make their way into the living room or TV room, a separate library is no where in the country. In both cases, libraries are often the largest moving in any room happened to be located, and therefore tend to create the atmosphere of the room. This means that you should try to model the appearance of the room by the library, not the other way around: Do not create a room full of furniture, then add the library only to note that the combination does not work properly. Libraries come in all different styles, from basic geometric and simple styles to more elaborate, something complicated and outdated libraries. It is important to keep the global dynamics and the colors of the house when choosing what type of library to buy. Nothing can be worse than buy one yourself, taking home, cursing yourself, because it is actually higher than the roof! Always take the exact measurements of the room before heading out to shop for libraries, always. Exactly what is going to use the library to influence the final choice, of course: if you have plenty of books to be kept in it, then get one with a lot of space will be an important consideration if you want to use more ceremonial post pictures, etc, then you want to display a large shelves, the top. Modern designs have incorporated new materials in libraries, such as stainless steel and glass, while the old styles of libraries is usually made with nothing but quality wood (like the one in the study of their grandparents) . It is important to note that to actually be able to load the library with a lot of things (books, trophies, pictures, etc.) then you must make sure it is solid, usually usually involves a slightly higher price .
