Hi all,
I have just moved into a funky apartment that has a shiny matte black kind of wallpaper (as a feature wall) in the living room. And unfortunately all of my furniture is chocolate brown. I have 2 chocolate brown sofas, dark chocolate coffee table, tv stand etc. and I don't have enough money to purchase all new furniture.
How can I separate the colours so that they don't clash? Originally I had purple and deep gold/bronze cushions and accessories to break up all of the chocolate, but I'm not sure if this is going to work with the black feature wall as it makes the room very dramatic?

There is an inexpensive alternative.
You will need to break up the black wall so your brown leather does not fade into the background and be dreary.
I would go to the home decorating section of a fabric store and look at fabrics. These fabrics are 54" wide and some patterns can be turned sideways (it's called railroaded) and be purchased by the yard. After finding a pleasing fabric, simply make a wooden frame and staple the fabric around the back of the frame. Hang on the wall and a there you have it-- a transformation, right before your very eyes.

when i was 2 yrs. old i was backed over by a pick-up truck and was in the hospital for a week when i caught pnemonia and had to stay for another 5 days, none of this is what i remember... but when i got home my parents had that really funky furniture w/ the wooden arms and all the brown tone yarn in it.... anyway, my first memory that i can recall is those yarns irritated the hell out of the tire marks on my back!
Not sure what came first but
1. When i was very little at Disneyland i was in line for dumbo i wanteds a better view so i stuck my head between two of the iron bars in the gate and i almost had to be welded out.

There is an artist named Michel Haillard, who is creating some imposing furniture. He has split from the traditional appearance, and materials and gone for a more exotic look than most of us are accustomed to when it comes to a chair or sofa. Well certainly we have seen animal print loungers and couches, but this gentleman has taken the animal inspired and turned it into animal possessed.
For alas, the furniture is made of actual animal skin and fur, along with other bits of the original animal too. Horns seem to be his most repeated choice, but you never know with this guy. To say it is authentic would be an understatement, as there are not only crocodile, zebra and ostrich skins involved, but tusks and tails also. And that is what leads us to call his collection the funkiest furniture of 2010.
