I do. The area we live in has some elite homes and my sister had showed me the thrift store. I have found that some people give away some really great furniture and I'm hooked.
I love it!! Most of my clothes come from thrift stores, and they are often expensive designer labels. I find you can get a more original look by buying a lot of eclectic stuff and putting it together rather than just buying a total look from a regular store. Nearly all my furniture is from thrift stores(we call them op shops here) or from secondhand stores.
I also love when our local city council does the kerbside cleanups and you can go around and take anything you like. The council like you to take it as then there is less for them to pick up.
I have an amazing husband, he's so loving & takes care of things around the house, takes care of the car, makes the money, etc. But we are living off of a military salary (which, contrary to what I thought, is NOT a big salary). Which I don't mind, we're just starting out so it's not a huge deal. His problem though is that he LOVES to blow money on electronics. Every movie we have has to be freakin BLU-RAY (which is not any different from the original DVD! It looks NO different whatsoever), he had to buy a 42-inch tv the same month we moved in (on a credit card) to our home, he HAD to have an X-Box 360 elite, bought a PS3 for me (which was actually bought because it had a blu-ray player in it, go figure), he has to have every new $60 video game that comes out , now he keeps saying he wants a Wii. We barely make it through every paycheck because we have maxed out credit cards (80% of which is electronics), we HAVE to have high-speed internet (unnecessary), & now he wants a brand new computer when he has a perfectly good one! His is like 2 years old but in perfect condition. I've had to ask my parents for money, which is humiliating. This is ridiculous! & he thinks that I am over-exaggerating. We have no dining room table or chairs, no bedroom furniture, no dressers, no extra bed for visitors to sleep on, we could use a new couch & loveseat, & he devotes his every thought to what he can buy next. Am I at fault for being totally p*ssed?! I'd like to save money to put back for a nursery so we can have children. We need a car so I can go to school and work.
Isn't he being unnecessary?
I mean I suppose I should be grateful he isn't abusive, an alcoholic, or a crackhead like my stepfather. But still, we will always be in debt at this rate, & never have anything but shiny electronics! I mean, really?
& why or why not do you think it's wrong to feel this way?
I've tried the Need vs. Want routine, he's like a child- "It's a need!" I keep telling him what we need, it's like he could care less.
about the bus-you would think there is one, but not here on THIS base. Plus I'd have to get to town. Anyways, yes we have serious budget-overhauling to do. Just wish he could see that life isn't about video games and big t.v.'s!!!
Jackie, you'd think I'd have a job already-I've been searching since July. I've resorted to Wal-Mart & waitressing, but I'm in the sticks of New Mexico and no one is hiring. :(
& yeah...the credit cards are in BOTH our names. He'd been griping for months about how badly he wanted to pay them off. We did, & the next day there's more crap on them!!!!
to the current *ss that responded, I SOLD my car to make ends meet when we first got married. I have OFFERED to take him to work, he doesn't like being w/out the car, which he claims he bought for me. It's kind of hard to walk the 20 minute drive to the nearest place of employment when ur in Cow Patty (Clovis), New Mexico and the base isn't hiring. When your husband wants to hog the car and walking is not an option, what do you say to that? A man IS responsible for his wife. I do things for myself but getting a car w/no credit (because of him) and no money (no job, no way to GET to this imaginary job) is not going to work. But these women are right. He's being a boy, I just don't get it. That's his only.. "thing." Ugh! He doesn't want to get counseling but Im sure about to bring the subject up!!
Yes he is being completely unnecessary and childish. I would suggest you meet with a financial counselor and try to sort your bills with him. That way he can see that the lavish lifestyle he is living is costly and could ruin his credit. If the credit cards are in his name, rejoice for his credit is the one that would be ruined, if its in both your names, I would suggest you really see a counselor about this because when you really need the money a bank or credit card will decline you. I would consider opening a secret bank account, and getting a job and putting some of your money away. Because he earns the money, he believes he should do as he please, which in a sense he is right. A tactic that might help is inviting people over or his friends over to eat dinner, and apologize to them for not having a dining table, perhaps he would get the message. You can also invite his mother or parents over to stay for a few days.

PLEASE, DON'T EVER COME BACK AGAIN
Dear Rangers supporters- never come back to Barcelona again. And not because your players themselves aren’t a legitimate team. No, it’s not because of that- the Nou Camp frequently hosts teams who are lazy, boring, who only defend, who run and kick their opponents, and who shouldn’t be in elite competition. On top of this, Rangers merely defend, run at the opposition and play dirty. Their defenders are butchers, their midfielders, heavy-footed; and their strikers just stand there like the furniture.
But even apart from the footballing aspect, the best thing would be for Rangers never to return to Barcelona, because every time they do, they make a mess of the place. 35 years ago, you (the Rangers supporters) destroyed the seats at the Nou Camp. This time we have enjoyed no less than 48 hours of brawls, provocation, rackets, fights and common drunk women throughout the whole city, which you have fouled however you pleased.
Stay at home and vomit in your own living-room, urinate in your sitting-room corners, fight with your neighbours, the Celtic supporters (who deserve a prize just for putting up with you) and foul the streets of Glasgow instead. Don’t come back here again, because it is not a laughing matter. And, by extension, don’t play in the Champions’ League either. You are not at that level neither in a sporting nor human sense.
There are noisy groups of supporters who, although they drink vast amounts of beer, make friends at the same time. But you? Not you, because everywhere you go, you turn into a rubbish tip. You are undesirables. And so are those who fraudulently sell, or “rent out†their tickets. These people screw Barca over, because they trade their season tickets illegally. And in doing this they cause massive annoyance for other members of the club. A true Barcelona fan would not re-sell their ticket for the match. If you are not going to the match, give it to a family member, or you could even use the 'Seient Lliure' service (an automated ticket service used by some Spanish clubs including Barcelona).
From now on, the responsibility lies with UEFA and the club itself to ensure who the ticket is sold to. The best thing for all of us would be that you as a supporter, in a moment of lucidity, decide not to travel if you do not have tickets. As that is never going to happen, those who sell the tickets illegally must be brought to justice. But the best thing would be if we never had to play Rangers again.
Can I just point out that there were several prominent press critics of the rangers fans' behaviour. Also the Mayor had some very negative things to say about them. On the other side of the coin, the scottish press' positive reports are based on the objective endorsement of no less than 'Ibrox chief of ops and security - kenny scott'. Sorry, but you couldn't make it up.
