Contemporary Home Furniture

I live in Birmingham, AL and I am looking for home office furniture. I do not want the typical rooms to go or Ashley furniture, I have already been and do not like the selection.

We are moving and I would like to get some new, contemporary furniture to suit our new home. However I am nervous that any of the traditional shops I visit may well go bust before they delivery my stuff to me, and Im not sure which online sites can be trusted. Anybody point me at a good, solid and reliable retailer with some attractive pricing and a wide range?

I used these guys just before Christmas - macandmac interiors contemporary furniture. They were great, really friendly on the phone and they used their own delivery guys, who put all my furniture up and in place for me. Really couldn't fault them, and they have been trading for years too.

Dining and Kitchen

My Husband and I are moving into our first home together and need suggestions as to where to buy some decent contemporary furniture...i.e. dining room set, couches, cocktail table, etc. We'll even buy on line if need be. We live in milwaukee but are willing to drive a bit if it good stuff. We just really want a cool dining and living room. Any thoughts?

Ikea in Schaumburg might be a good place to start. It's only an hour away, but you'll need a truck to get everything home!! It's still cheaper than paying shipping costs!

Home Office

I guess I almost feel like a minority in my own country with lack of home decor products which are comtemporary in looks. Everywhere you go, its the same heavy traditional crap. The only place you can find most modern stuff is online. It's sad that while in Europe designers are as big as film stars but here people don't give a damn about any designer products.What's wrong with our country?

Mainly its a durability and affordability problem. To get the contemporary look that lasts with kids and everything it costs a pretty penny. Plus many americans are collectors of trinkets and things. this lends their nature to be more eclectic in how they decorate not uniform.
So modern is out and traditional, expansive is in. its slowly changing with what is being sold to kids, and what is in a lot of condos is being transferred.

I am remodeling on a very tight budget. I need to find an ottoman and decorative items such as vases, candles, art, etc. I need items to place on built in shelves in my dinning room. Items for floor, ie. vases or tall bottles, or baskets. I need table items. My style is contemporary. I a lso need an area rug that is no more than 5 x 8.

Have you ever shopped at Z Galleries? I love it, google on line to take a peek. Not sure if they have one in Houston but they do have nice things. Some reasonable and some not. At least it can give you ideas.

As to the area rug Target right around 200.00 but huge! Love it!
