Champagne or taupe~ light natural earth tones. Too dark will contrast with the richness of the furniture.
national-office-furniture.com I was searching everywhere for information on cherry office furniture and then I found this website. Lots of cherry ...
Okay, so i have a really boring cluttered home office and i really need help. It has white walls (blech) and a lot of black and dark cherry wood furniture. I really would like to keep with the cherry wood.
Unfortunately i have a bland, uncomfortable futon (blue "mattress" with black "supports") that i can't get rid of. I also cannot get rid of the large map of town and the large high school class pictures displayed on the wall. (though i would appreciate some help on how to display them, right now its pretty much one, then below, another...)
Anyone have any ideas for wall color ( i REALLY need help with that) and what i can do about the futon and what i should do about the wall displays and etc?
Right now my home office is very cold, bland and unattractive-looking. I really want to soften it up while keeping the pieces i already have (2 end tables, 2 desks, a book shelf, all in dark cherry wood. Also the futon, though it seriously needs help).
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!
you said it feels "cold", it may be because of the lighting. Are you using fluorescent lights? If so, you can try getting a more yellowish looking fluorescent lights to cut down some coldness of it.
OK, so how about paint the wall to creamy eggshell yellow like this one here: http://www.homeportfolio.com/catalog/Pro duct.jhtml?superCatId=11&catId=94&am p;avId=10886&prodId=32301
or even lighter, for the molding on the wall, paint it white. You can keep all your cherry wood furniture but get rid of the futon or move it to the guest room or garage. Then get a simple but romantic looking pendant for general lighting. Decorate the room with some fresh flowers. A leather sofa will be good too. For the map...frame it with the color similar to your wood furniture. Hang it on one side of the book shelf, and the class pic on the other side. This should give you a simple English country house look. Hope this helps!

I have accidentaly spilled some standard super glue from walmart or gas station (small disposable tube) onto my brand new solid cherry wooden home office desk. I need to know how to remove this without damaging the bueatiful stained wood finish. Some spots appear to be soaked in, and others are raised, dried glue. Any suggestions....... PLEASE HELP!
For the spots that have soaked in there really is no 'fix' per say other than to sand it down and re-finish it. For the raised spots you may be able to scrape it off with a razor blade, understand though the finish has been compromised by the compounds the glue is made from (cyano-acrylics). This stuff raises cain with stains, paints and other adhesives as well as destroy plastics (etching and 'clouding'). So I guess what I'm saying is: Unfortunately it is now time to refinish the desk top. Bonifide furniture re-finishers will tell you the same thing.

We have a room that is approximately 11 x 12 and serves as our guest room and home office. It has 1 window, neutral carpeting, and beige walls. The furniture is a cherry stain. The curtains are burgandy sheers, and the comforter set is burgandy and tan. It is very dark - how can I make the room seem lighter?
Cherry furniture looks outstanding against either pale blue or yellow (yellowish gold). I would paint the walls either color and buy new curtains and bedding.
If you can't afford that right now perhaps you can hang blinds and leave the curtains pulled to each side, allowing the light to come in.
Wish I knew your style. :)
Hope this helps.
We just upgraded our TV to a 50" big screen. We have a very modest and homey living room. I don't know how it's going to look. It's not one that stands alone--we have to buy a stand for it but I'm not too sure how it's going to look. Any ideas on making a big screen fit in a warm and casual living room?
If this helps we already have a lot in the room. One lazy boy, an over sized chair, an oversized sofa (with queen-sized bed), an upright piano (cherry wood), DVD/CD rack, and two large speakers with surround sound. Our home office is also a part of the living room so it's pretty much just a long room.
The color of the TV is black where as all the other furniture are more neutral colors. Is there anyway to get these piece to fit in or will it always look like the odd ball? Any ideas on stands? Our home is anything but contemporary but that’s the only kind of stand we seem to find.
You can buy a wood entertainment unit to fit it... They can get expensive and most will likely be larger than you want... (Side cabinets and all....)
Are you handy with tools & wood? You can make the stand from wood.
You want the base to be only slightly larger than the TV. Measure and make a pattern one inch longer/wider in each direction. You will need to cut 2 from this pattern. One will be the base, just an inch or 2 off the floor, and the other will be positioned at the heighth you want the TV to sit.
Decide how high you want the stand. Add that height to the height of the TV and add a few inches for good measure. Cut 2 panels of wood this heighth, and as wide as at least the front depth of the TV. (It can go back as far as the whole TV if you desire...)
Cut another piece the width of the side boards and long enough to bridge over the TV and connect the side boards.
Assemble and stain a color that would compliment your other colors. That makes it not look as contemporary and doesn't cost $2000.
Place the TV in it and enjoy!!!

SEI Freestanding Cherry Jewelry Armoire | Home Furniture Sets
I purchased this jewelry armoire as a gift for my wife. Unfortunately, the first unit was damaged in shipping. I then sent it back for a replacement. The second unit had some major production flaws that made it unacceptable. We finally received one that was not damaged and had no flaws. My wife loves the unit. It was a bit complicated to assemble but not horrible. The problems with the first two units caused me headaches due to the repackaging and reshipping requirements. However, the vendor paid all of the shipping costs and were very easy to work with. Again, it is a very nice unit, but beware of shipping and quality control issues.
I live alone, but was able to get it out of the box and do the minimal assembly required. After dusting and polishing with good furniture oil, it looks great in my bedroom. There was a small corner piece broken off, but I was able to repair it with wood glue and touch-up. Finally, all my jewelry is organized and findable – a place in the drawers for earrings, rings and bracelets, and hanging space in the two side panels for necklaces. It’s terrific!
