What furniture is made in America, Lazyboy I think but anyone know other furniture manufacturers? Thank you and ten points for helping me furnish my home.

Flexsteel, La-Z-Boy, Bassett, Ethan Allen, Stickley...all used to be exclusively made in USA, now...30% of their upholstery & virtually ALL wood furniture is now "made" overseas. Sometimes just parts of the furniture is made overseas, but if more than 50% of the labor (such as shaping legs or mechanical parts) is made overseas, it has to be labeled as made overseas. Assembly is virtually 100% American. There are now only 2 or 3 American fabric mills left - most fabrics are now imported &/or "cut & sewn" overseas. The companies however, are American owned (La-Z-Boy is especially strong in their ownership & lineage), however, & their main operations are here, still employing plenty of Americans. This shift in furniture manufacturing has had to take these desperate measures of cost reduction in the last 5 years just to stay afloat, because of labor costs. Hard to believe, but it's actually cheaper to ship American grown wood overseas to be shaped & then sent back to the US for assembly than it is to entirely produce it here. But it's true. Manufacturers I KNOW do NOT employ child labor, btw.

If you want 100% "American" made, you'll have to investigate either custom woodworkers & upholsterers or seek out the Amish craftsmen. Yes, there are a ton of manufacturers in NC, but that doesn't mean they're 100% American made inside & out.

Honestly, I wouldn't hesitate buying furniture from any of the manufacturers I've listed, though I appreciate your concern about "overseas manufacturing". I've been in the furniture biz for 30 years, & my dad was in the furniture biz for 30 yrs. There are certainly very poor manufacturers out there, but if you go mid to high end, no problem.

I just told you stuff your furniture store will never tell you.

I hope you have a textbook or notes to refer to because several of these are correct.
Colonial homes is where the French Style in America was used
How did it get there? I think both the English and French and Americans looked to the French and traveled to france and bought furniture and objects de art, but only the really rich ones, so it was an eiletist style.
Im sorry I cant get more specific because I dont know the material you question is developed from. With multiple choice you have to find the best answer, and this is a How question. I hope this helps

With baby on the way and our current budget, my husband and I have concluded that I absolutely have to return to work because of our money situation (we live quite simplisitcally- no vacations, no luxeries, $330 morgatage for a home that is falling apart, no fancy furniture, old cars that are paid off, etc.)

We live in rural America where there are not many high paying job opportunities. My husband has a MS in Animal Science and I have a BA in elementary education. He currently commutes 2 hours a day, five days a week for a job with a feed company and I work 3/4 time teaching computers at a school that is only 30 min commute 4 days a week. What is hurting us horribly is the fuel that my husband consumes for his five day a week job, my husband's ridiculously low salary (and my ridiculously low salary too), and student loans.

We need some ideas. I want to stay at home with baby, save on day care and make a little cash- maybe $600-800 to let us "get by." Thanks for any suggestions

Why not develop an online business in which you target tutoring students electronically or maybe setup a business in which you assist parents who homeschool their children by providing an "approved" lesson plan for various grades, organize educational field trips for the classes, and give the students a chance to socialize and communicate with other home schooled children in a particular neighborhood or city???

I am looking for companies that sell home products, like barbecues, patio furniture. In North America there is Home Depot, Lowes but what is there in Europe? The store could just be in country or the whole of Europe. Any suggestions?

In the UK, there's places such as Homebase, Argos, Focus, Wickes which sell these types of items (Homebase, Focus, and Wickes also sell DIY materials...paint, wood, etc).

Other places which sell these items are Tesco, Asda (big supermarkets which sell home products online also) and garden centres such as those run by Frosts and Wyevale.
