I am 1/2 of a mature gay couple. My work and collecting is out of controll in the 1 bed room apt deco apartment in upper manhatten, near the Cloisters.I need santuary.I have ming Chinese,American folk art and cast aways as well as abc furniture, too many rugs etc.I am an artist,Costume designer for films.I have a senior dog and a cat.It is all out of control and I hate going home, all I want to do is stick my head under the covers. It affects my work,my mood,my love life,I loved entertaining and now I wouldn't even get a cleaning person in ,I need help .I have tried ayer or so ago the conventional way,But I thought I would see if anyone knows someone who would be willing to help me reclaim my home and hight lite those things I love rather than have to move because "THE ASHTRAYS ARE FULL".thanks .I would make a great and willing contestant and I am sure the coop board would be very willing to help.I own the place ,so lets talk about Demo.
One of my good friends was on Trading Spaces. The way she got on was by standing out amongst everyone else. She and her husband were hysterical in their application tape. You have to first get their attention and then make them look at your story/personality and say..."We have to have this person!"
Spice up the story you just told here. Be a "character" , flamboyant, etc.... and humor is a MUST! Shows like Clean Sweep, etc. are about home improvement but are also try to be entertaining. Show them that you can be a great entertainer.
Talk about any "feuds" you and your partner have over your clutter. Talk about the mess. Say things like you've lost a shoe and haven't seen it in over a year or you've lost your mate in the mess....something extravagant like that. You hit a lot of key notes in this story...just add a little more and really really really spice it up and make it funny...that is the key!
Oh and don't just apply for one show, apply for them all. I have a feeling that you can get on one of the shows if you take my advice. You seem to have the personality they are looking for.
Good Luck!!!
Oh, and if they don't call you right away...don't give up. Contact them once a week and tell them that your mess is reproducing and taking on a life-form all it's own and if they don't come soon.................(think of something bizarre)
"ABC Home loved our booth at the ICFF so much --- they had us install it on their forth floor - the day after the show! Arguably the most ...
I am interested in doing murals or furniture accessories for the makeover show. How would I contact someone for this?

Porter had reported 26-year-old Jessie Davis missing one week ago Friday after finding the young woman's bedroom in disarray, the furniture overturned and Davis' young son home alone. The 2-year-old boy, who may be the only witness to his mother's disappearance, told investigators: "Mommy was crying. Mommy broke the table. Mommy's in rug."
When Porter was asked Friday by NBC's "Today" show if she considered the father of Davis' son and unborn baby a suspect, she replied: "Yes, he's a suspect."
"I still pray that it's not him," she said. "That doesn't mean that I don't think he's a suspect, as well."
Authorities have talked with and searched the home of the father, Canton police officer Bobby Cutts Jr., although investigators have repeatedly said Cutts is not a suspect.
Cutts, 30, says he had nothing to do with Davis' disappearance. The woman's family says he is the father of both 2-year-old Blake and of Davis' unborn baby.
On Friday, some 250 volunteers lined up for a second day to help search surrounding fields and woods for any sign of Davis. She was nine months pregnant when she disappeared, with a due date of July 3. More than 1,800 volunteers had turned up Thursday to scour backyards, vacant fields and a Christmas tree farm.
Davis' sister, Whitney, said the family was not participating Friday.
"It's too stressful every time a dog comes across something," she said.
Search dogs hit on one area of freshly dug dirt Thursday more than a mile from her home in nearby Lake Township, but it turned out to be a marijuana plot, Stark County sheriff's Capt. Gary Shankle said.
"It's very frustrating, but we just can't leave any stone unturned," he said.
Porter said Friday that young Blake was keeping everyone motivated and reminding them every day of his mother, whom she described as her best friend, a woman without enemies who "always had a big smile on her face."
Blake "has periods where he just lays his head down on the couch and has this horrible look of sadness, and then the next moment he'll have this big, beautiful smile. He really is what keeps us going," she told ABC.
Volunteers searched the area around Davis' home for about 4 1/2 hours Thursday until they were stopped by heavy rain. Groups of 80 to 100 searchers covered a total area of about eight square miles, said Tim Miller, director of Texas EquuSearch, an internationally active search group that organized the volunteer effort.
"I'm hopeful we can find her alive," he said. "If not, the second best thing we can do is be back here next week for a funeral."
During the massive search Thursday, police officer Jamie Mizer led one of 14 groups while three months pregnant.
"That's kind of what's motivating me to be out here," she said.
One woman wore high heels but gave up 20 minutes later after walking through a wooded area. Another maneuvered on crutches. "I'm here for the whole thing," said Tammy Robinson, 47.
Others prayed for Davis' safe return at a nondenominational evangelical church Davis' mother attends.
At Davis' home, several bouquets of flowers had been left outside.
On Wednesday, sheriff's investigators and FBI agents carried out more than a dozen white cardboard boxes, a few brown bags and three large black plastic bags during a search of Cutts' home.
His mother, Renee Horne, told The that agents were looking for Davis' cell phone and a quilt missing from her home. She said FBI agents questioned her son twice Wednesday, and read him his Miranda rights during the second interview.
Meanwhile, the DNA of a newborn baby found about 45 miles from Davis' home was being tested to see if the infant is related to the missing woman. The testing was not expected to be finished until next week.
the baby said that his mommy is in the rug... she is a river or has been buried or even worst... why does it take a woman to be missing for people to come together,
I dont want to BE a child again, I just want to recapture the feeling. Not relive it on a permanant basis either. It didnt work so well for Michael Jackson, but he seemed to have other issues.Im talking for myself, just long frequent stays.
On the internet, especially YouTube ,I've seen things from the 70's I thought I'd never see again! I also toured my childhood home just over a year ago. The house smelled exactly the same, and no one's furniture/ belongings there to ruin the moment (abandoned and on auction). The security guard was lonely and let me stay for almost 3 hours. I took in every nook and cranny of that house. Upon arriving home I watched an hours worth of commercials from 1974 ABC Wide World of Sports on You Tube. I always wanted to see these because those are what I watched with my dad when I was 6. The week before I seen some LATE NIGHT LOCAL tv commercial breaks. I emphasize late night because tv after 10pm or so in those days seemed peacefully mysterious, so I always wanted to see the late night world I'd been missing. And there it was on YouTube,- and from MY city's station!
My childhood home was sold, then put up for rent for just a little more than I could afford. Had I had the money, Im not sure what I would've done. The only problem I see is the peaceful past would clash with today's problems (99% work related from job I cant afford to quit!). If the house goes up for rent again, and I become rich, not working, and HAPPY, - and I rent it, but not STAY there, would this be a bad psychological investment? It seems if I was smart about it, and not there ALL the time, I could relive the past until it became "uncomfortable", the just go home (two blocks away right back into 2010, 2011, or whatever.). I say uncomfortable because for some reason after watching hours of 70s You Tube, and touring the house, when I tried to sleep that night- ,my head was spinning and I felt uncomfortable disorientation. So I realize there are limits.
I moved out of the house in 1977 and visited once, while it was occupied, in 1986 or so
"I could relive the past, until it became uncomfortable, "then" just go home..." is what I meant to say. Darned typos
it's fun to remissness from time to time but living in your past is not a healthy choice. sure there were good times, but you have to move forward. the past is gone and there's nothing that you can do about it.
