Marble Dining Room Furniture

Is Lacquer a good material for a dining room set? The finish is Carra Marble.

very good ,I have a bookmatched maple dining room set and it also is laqured and it has held up very well, looks like the day it was bought.

a table w/6 chairs. These were damaged in water , bought in 1965and need an idea for insurance purposes. They were made by Unique Furniture Makers of Winston--Salem NC.

Your insurance company will only allow a certain book allowance for this. Talk to them and see what they will allow ... if you have replacement insurance, then don't worry about it...just replace it and they will give you the money back.

Hello there,
I am going to move and my new apartment the dr and lr area is together... at my current apt they are separated..due to that when I got my furniture I decided to not have them matching.... my lv is black and white...black leather sofas, glass coffee table..everything is either black,white or silver.
My dr on the other hand is BROWN!!!! Marble(brownish) table, brown leather chairs..
How can I bring them together without making things look weird? I cant paint the chairs since they are leather..nor paint the table since it is marble :-( ahhh I don't know what to do. In my LR the rug is white,black and grey. I was thinking on buying a rug to put on the DR area something with just one color... I cant paint the walls since it is a rent apartment... what can i do? help please!

Dusty rose area rugs in both rooms would help bring the look together since it looks good with both brown and black. A black beaded table runner on the dining room table would bring in some of the black from the living room. Some textured silk pillows on the sofas in brown, cream and rose would bring some of the dining room to the living room. A long time ago, it wasn't OK to mix black and brown but that is no longer the case.

my house has an open floor plan. the walls are a shade lighter than mustard yellow. my formal dining room is right next to the living room and it has traditional oak furniture and it has a buffet with a charcoal gray marble top. my hearth room is also next to my living room becuase it is right in front of my kitchen, which has stainless steel appliances and uba tuba (ooba tooba?) green granite counter tops along with cherry cabinets. The hearth room has contemporary black leather furniture and black glass tables.
how can i coordinate my living room to look good with both my traditional-style formal dining room and my contemporary hearth room.
please let me know if you need any more information.
any suggestions for stores are welcome. links with pieces that you like from stores like Bombay and Pier One would also be very helpful.

The "experts" say pick a color scheme and carry it throughout--sounds like you have a relatively "blank palate" with black leather furniture. If it were me, I'd choose say three colors..and make one the dominant color in each room..and accent with the other two in the rooms.
Martha Stewart would probably say mix textures and fabrics, as wel. Maybe a print (chintz) would be good in the dining room. With black leather, you could do something more shiny (not satin, but something like it?) for pillows. Add a throw, or even a couple of nice artsy sort of pieces. Play off the colors of the chintz in the dining room.
You've got mustard yellow walls, green and gray countertops. Depending on your yellow (is it a blue-ish or yellowish yellow?) you could add some shades of green, maybe a rust or blue tones. I'd find a color wheel (like paint stores have, or decorating books) and look at what's next to the wall colors on either side. Those are your complementary colors.
I've also seen some wood items (frames, boxes, shelving units) that are black with a wood reveal..that might be a nice tie-in to bring some of the wood from one room into the black leather/glass room. (Hmmm...I feel like finding a paintbrush myself!)

So I'm moving to a new house and I want to paint the walls a light blue to go with the dark hardwood floors (like this: http://www.decorpad.com/previousPhoto.ht m?index=1&memberName=Kasia). My furniture is black leather and various white fabrics. I think that would look sooo chic together ALTHOUGH you can see my dining room which is connected to the kitchen from the living room. What colour should I paint my dining room/kitchen to compliment the icy light blue in the living room? The kitchen has black marble counter tops and light/medium wood cabinets. Please help!

Add a bit of deeper coral in the LR for transition and bring a bit of blue into the DR/Kit

Accessories and window treatments will be a challenge. Blue is a hard color to work with and a tint to green or purple in your accessories will through things off. Have patience and it will be wonderful. Look for light blue and pale coral glass to incorporate you can use it in the bottom of a glass vase.
