How should I move my stuff?

I'm moving to Fayetteville, North Carolina from Hampton, Virginia in 20 days...I just got a lease with an apartment complex there, so gotta move in Nov. 1st.

Now here's the thing. Due to my visual impairment, I am unable to drive down there myself. I used Greyhound to get down there to check out apartments and find one I liked. But now I gotta figure out how to get my stuff there.

I have all the usual stuff...clothes, computer, tv, etc. Plus some furniture my mother is giving me: a six-chair dining room set, two armchairs and matching ottomans, a large armoire, and a bed frame (but it doesn't have a head or foot board). I also have a medieval pavilion that takes up a bit of room. Because of the furniture and pavilion, I know I will need to rent a truck to get it all there.

The problem is, I also have a personal vehicle (my husband's, really) to move down there.

I don't have anyone in the area who can help me (family, friends, etc), because my mother is a b*tch who refuses to help, and my husband is deployed to Iraq until January.

So should I rent a U-haul and hire someone to drive it and my car down, or is there a resource I can use to help me as someone with a visual impairment?

I already checked about military helping...because I moved here on my own separate from orders, I have to move myself back; the military will not do the move for me.
I don't see anything wrong with the question...maybe it's something dirty, and I'm just not dirty-minded???


You could rent one of those POD's. Put all of your stuff in there. They will move it to your new address. You will just have to unload it. They will take the POD back. Shop around a bit for the best price. Good Luck!
