Folding Dining Furniture

folding screen for an open floor plan, seperating living room from dining room...
furniture is olive green w/ golden sheen..walls are off white or beige with bronze color sponged on
the folding screen is beige with light green designs on it
i want to change the walls to a solid light carmel, but im afraid it will make the folding screen "pop" It blends really well now but I dont like the sponged paint look... what should i do???

Maybe you should ask yourself this questions. Which one is the main focus in my living room? Is it the wall that I want people to notice more or the folding screen?

If your answer is the folding screen, then make it a nice one as a focus in your room. If the wall is the answer, then try to blend it in with the wall, so when you open or close it, it won't be such an eyesore for you.

I saw some TV show where a dad bought his daughter all this stuff for her apartment for college... It was recycled wood, and it was sold in a box, you put it together yourself at home, and it was made especially for apartments, like they had a corner table that was probably a 3' wide triangle that fit perfect in the corner then u could somehow fold it out in to a 6' x 6' dining table, i was jsut wondering if anyone has any clue where i can find some of this furniture... it was super cheap cause it was recycled and u put it together, and i really need it!!!

I have just bought cream and blue curtains, and the room is magnolia with blue carpet and sofa have navy blue covers on them.

I am on a budget but want a dining table, I have a black fold away one at the moment and I hate it. the rest of the furniture is of light wood colour, I think like beech

Number two looks nicer, but harder to clean. It looks a lot more comfortable too.

I have a 1BR apt facing South. Here's a little more about it... My theme is Asian/Feng Shui but I've also accepted Morocco into the scheme of things as I found two guardian dogs @ Pier 1. I'm buying the Dragon June Rug @ Pier 1 if that helps for the Living Rm.

DINING RM/KITCHEN:
Enter into the dining area. The apartment has been rehabbed. My tiles are marble-esque I guess. They're a really light gray/beige/white... To the right upon entry is a closet with sliding doors which I use as a coat closet/broom closet. To the right is my teeny kitchen. I call it a turn around kitchen. You walk in, turn around, and you're already out. There is a 6' row of cabinets w/ sink and the stove on the right and Fridge on the left. The kitchen is MAYBE 6-8' by 5'. I have an iron sconce on the dining room wall going into the kitchen. I also have an iron mirror on the wall straight ahead of entry into my apt.

LIVING ROOM:
If you go back to the front door, the living room is straight ahead but slightly to your left. The separation between the carpet & tile is on an angle. The carpet is light beige. My furniture is tan microfiber and all the dang tables are OAK. I'm tired of OAK. I have plans to sand down all the tables and paint them black this spring. I have a papsan, loveseat, sofa, tv & stand, DVD rack, 2 end tables & a coffee table. For decorating, I have bought a 3X4' mirror but it hasn't made it onto the wall just yet. I also have an imported Japanese vase (about 3' tall) that I fell in love with. I have a bamboo screen draped with 2 or 3 yards of teal silk imprinted with a Japanese print. There are sliding glass doors on the back wall of the living room that face South. I have a 5X8' balcony.

BEDROOM:
Upon coming in, go past the entry/broom/coat closet. There is another linen closet immediately to the right. just 2 or three more feet ahead is the end of the hall. There is another closet with 3 high shelves because it houses my teeny water heater. This is the game closet. To the right is the bathroom and the left is the bedroom.

Upon entering the bedroom, there are four closet doors (two closets with two mirrored sliding doors each). The window is straight ahead facing south. I have a queen sized bed, nightstand and armoir. There is also a 4' folding table which serves as my computer desk. I have no where else in the apartment to put it. I am going with a black & pink theme in the bedroom.



I know this is rather lengthy but I want to get some good suggestions. I am looking to PAINT accent walls in the Dining Room and Living Room.

Moroccan colours tend to be the oranges and deep blues, perhaps an accent wall or two in both rooms? but matching if they're opening on to one another. The rest in cream (I'm not a fan of too much colour on walls). It'd need to be an earthy shade of either colour, not too orangey or blue - more of a burnt orange or a vibrant blue (but not turquoisey).

As for Feng Shui, is the mirror in the entry directly facing the door? It's recommended not to have it facing directly.

I purchased a condo in October 2008. My boyfriend and I (21 years old) had several get togethers. All of them were a good time, but they were kind of interesting...at the time we had little furniture, not many places for people to sit... things were still in boxes.


I love all of my co-workers and I'd like to invite them all over again. Some people werent able to make it the last time. Theres a lot of them! and most of them will probably bring their boyfriends/husbands.
I have a couch that seats 3, a love seat that seats 2, and 8 chairs in my kitchen. I plan on borrowing a few folding chairs from family members after I know how many people will be here.


My condo is on the smaller side. Between the kitchen/dining room and living room, it wasnt too bad. But I'd like to wait until the spring to have this get-together so that I can put some chairs outside on our pattio. A little trick my mom used to do when we lived in smaller places was to set the drinks up outside to draw people out so that its not so crowded inside when people are trying to pour drinks and such.


Asside from actually having enough seating, what else do I need to make an enjoyable get-together for everyone??
Board game suggestions are welcome!!
I'm not great with mixing drinks, i have no idea what goes with what - so a "drink supply" list would be great...alcohol and juices that I could put out so that people can mix drinks.

make sure you provide games or entertainment-there is nothing worse then a bunch of bored people just sitting around. Even though some people will think it is corny at 1st---- play games that involve everyone.

From the classic charades and standard board games to hip rhyming challenges, there are lots of ways to add fun activities to your at-home, casual party. Some to consider:

Revised version of charades using news of that day.
Board games from the past (Battleship, Operation, Twister) with odd substitutes for missing game pieces (toothpicks for Battleship pieces, tiny party favors for Operation).
Create new lyrics to common and popular songs. For instance, you could use the tune from the Beverly Hillbillies television show to sing about a friend's promotion: "Come and listen to a story about a guy named Jay. Accounting extraordinaire at Horner, Smith and Flay." Get the idea?
Trivia challenges--especially fun if you and your guests share a common hobby or interest such as old movies, cars or even cooking.
