Dining Room Furniture Houston

Looking for furniture places in Houston, Texas with good nice furniture. Looking for sleigh bedroom sets and a dining room set? Any ideas or advice of where I should go? Layaway?

Travel to the nearest iKea (which, from central houston is preetty far for me... i think on the west side) or cruise down westheimer and montrose for some really creative places.

Just window shopping, you can find some of the most modern/urban things for your flat/house/apartment.

This may sound crazy, but if you go to most any apartment complex in the south west houston area, specifically by chimney rock rd. and just south of rt. 59, you will see the apartment complex dumpsters filled with everything you need almost all the time. I'm serious. i live in one of those apartments, Sharon park to be exact. People get evicted or just want to move and there is always stuff by those dumpsters. Personally I have a set of outdoor tables and seats I picked up there for $0.00. You would have no idea. Check it out, and when you find something nice, just clean it a bit and your good to go.

I'm moving from Chicago, IL to Houston, TX. I already have two job interviews set up for next week and have already been preapproved for apartment so far so good.

My biggest set back is how to get my stuff down there. I'm selling my living room set, dining room & bedroom set. So I'm taking any furniture with me because it seems easier to sell it then to pay to move it. I can just buy new stuff cheaper. However, I also have a '05 Chrysler Sebring that I want to take with me. Everyone keeps telling me that I shouldn't put the miles on it by driving it. But it doesn't make since to ship it. I'm only taking cloths, kitchenware, 2 TV's and some nick nacks that I could put in a small trailer and hook up to the car. But people laugh at me when I say I'm going to drive it down there. It's 1200 miles but I'm just trying to go the cheapest route.

Any suggestions?

Make sure that you can transfer your health insurance to Texas with you, Nothing you take along can be that important. If you become ill you will end up with nothing due to bills you incur without insurance. Good luck to you better keep your car too, in case your job is far away from your apartment.

1200 miles is not that much, your friends are nuts. Pack the car as full as possible, and enjoy the drive. You'll get to see a lot of the country along the way!
