I have a 5pc dining rm set that includes 5 black cloth chairs and black base and glass top, and black china cabinet w/ glass doors. I also have a 6ft Black 3 Tier Entertainment Center. I need to sale it ASAP. Both are beautiful pieces and were purchased no more than 2 years ago. Value for Dining Room Set is $1200 and Entertainment Center $500. I will be selling 5 large pieces of furniture (entertainment center, coffee tables, and dining table) and it has to be done within a week.

What's a reasonable price to charge for this service?

i assume you're good at selling online...you could charge a commission, ie. a percentage of the total, or you could charge a fee based on your level of skill...

thus, say you charge 25%, not unreasonable, if the stuff goes for $800 you clear $200...or you can just set a fee based on the time you will spend, and what your time is worth...

its a difficult call for an outsider, not knowing you and your relationship with the party...

Hands down the best place is garage sales! (NOT estate sales..those are invariably overpriced)

Right now, almost everything in my home is from a garage sale...and I saved THOUSANDS of dollars furnishing it!
I picked up an entire living room suite- sofa, 2 stuffed chairs, coffee table and 2 end tables - for $50 at one garage sale in really good condition. At another I got a terrific wooden entertainment center for 20 bucks. My cherry nightstands cost me five dollars apiece. I got the matching cherry dressers (one highboy and one 6-drawer/mirror long dresser) for 15.00/each. They were in perfect condition, too. I still have a beautiful Victorian chair I bought six years ago that had been newly recovered (they hated the result, but I thought it looked awesome) I got for 5.00!

I even got a portable dishwasher for 10 dollars one time. I had to roll it home down the sidewalk because I didn't have a truck, but I didn't care... it worked! I guarantee it: you can get absolutely ANYTHING at garage sales for pennies on the dollar.

NEVER pay the price they ask! Always dicker it down. The best time to go is the last day of the garage sale because they really want to get rid of this stuff and are willing to take just about any money you come in with. A good trick is to always bring cash and separate it into sections in different pockets so the seller never sees how much you really have. Then they are more likely to sell it to you at the price you offer.

If they want 10 bucks take out the portion that has say, five or eight or dollars and hold it out to them and say "this is what I have and I can take it off your hands". If they want 15.00 then assemble (out of sight) no more than 12.00. They don't know you have more money stashed on you and will assume this is all they are going to get.

If you just watch your local newspaper & move around from one garage sale to another you can find practically anything for almost nothing. I'll bet you can get everything on your list and end up paying no more than 100 bucks total.

Garage sales are a lot of fun - especially if you go with a friend :)

The dining and living rooms form a "L" and both areas are open to the kitchen. The dining room furniture is dark brown wood. I plan to purchase an entertainment center or armroire in the near future that I may paint or stain. My kitchen cabinents are red oak and so is the flooring throughout all 3 spaces...help!

I would go with a soft beige color; that color goes well with any decor.

i just moved into a new apartment and i need a few more pieces of furniture. (dining table, sofa, and lcd tv) i alreacy know rent to own isnt the cheapest just want to know if i would qualify. i can afford to pay the 1st month upfront..but ive only been at my current job for less than a month. also how much would i be likely to pay monthly for all of those things

I was a salesman for R.A.C. for 3 years and almost was a store manager.It is a rip off as you know.But to you're question,Yes you qualify.And they will bring it to you.
