How do I train my dogs not to wet on the carpet and furniture?

We have 2 puppies who will be 1 year old this month. One is deaf and the other one hears fine. Our problem is that when they come inside they immediately start wetting on the furniture and floor. No matter what we do - spank, stick their nose in it - they persist with this bad behavior. We bought these dogs to be inside dogs and to be part of our family but to be honest the strain of always worrying what they are tearing up or peeing on is causing them to spend more and more time in the yard. HELP!! They potty in our childrens room, the playroom, the dining room, on the sides of the sofas - I have 2 young children I need to get this training under control so that we can enjoy our dogs and not be stressed every time they are with us.

Sounds frustating, I know, I've been there.

No matter how long the dogs are outside, they decide to come in and mark their territory.

The products that I listed below will help.

And FYI sticking your dog's nose in his urine doesn't work. That is a misconception that sticking your dog's nose in the potty or pee will help the dog learn.

What helped also with me, is walking my dogs and my children together. We walked as a pack. We all had including the dogs, so much energy because we haven't been walked in a while, that walking solved most of our problems.

Good luck

Furniture: Unique Dining Table Sets

Furniture: Unique Dining Table Sets - as part of the Product Guide series by GeoBeats. Here is a kind of a mixture of a traditional dining set ...

childrens area to grow and play...?

Do your toddlers have an area to play in or do they just bring toys wherever they go?
I am a very clean and neat mom. I would not be able to stand my kids having toys in the living room, kitchen, dining room or office. My sister has a bin of toys sitting out in her kitchen, some more in the dining room and a whole lot just laying around in the living room...it looks messy and cheap. :) haha. She knows. :)

I have a play area for my kids..I hate that play room. :) It is always a mess but the girls love it.
It is right off of the kitchen and I believe it was meant to be the dining area but, it was so small. We thought about using it as an office but, we used it as a play room. The toys can just lay around and they have chairs and tables in there...coloring books and a TV (gated off...I monitor how much TV they can watch). I like them to be in there if they want to make a mess...they drift into there and make a space on the floor to lay with a blankie and a pillow and they watch a movie while I cook and clean. :) The baby will love the pink walls and girly furniture...I was lucky enough to have ALL girls. :)
I don't let them have big or small toys in there bedrooms...it is a place to sleep and change diapers. :) not a place to play
so what about you?
Like I said, the playroom is able to be messy and I wont make a peep until I can't see the floor.
I do keep a few chairs in there but, they are custom made for small kids.

My son has his own room, he will be 5 next week...and it is full of toys, my daughter also has her own room, she just turned 3. They also have a play room with a couch and tv in it...I don't really mind the mess but I don't like it either...I just think life is too short to be nagging them about not having a mess, they are kids and will do that...I also don't want to be the nagging mom that is always bitching and whining about a mess and then GOD forbid something happen to my kid and the last thing I did was scold them over a messy room...why complain when I am the one buying them their toys in the first place?

Living space, clutter issue?

I'm living with my parents, and probably will be for quite a while, and while it's nice of them and all to let me live here for free, the atmosphere is incredibly unhealthy. Every house has its clutter, naturally, and I'm sure there are houses worse than this, but the real issue is that these people are also controlling and oblivious about it.

They've always had a clutter problem. They always want to move to new, bigger houses. Both my sister and brother have moved out, and both their rooms have become storage rooms. Any time there is new space, it is quickly filled with food, or random niknaks. They'll collect furniture, particularly dressers and cabinets, and fill them with more food. I'm currently bedding in my brothers old room, on a queen sized mattress on the floor, and there is literally no floor space. The queen bed barely fits, stretching from the door to the window. There is one cabinet, two dressers, all full of food. On the top of the dressers is more food. Boxes of it. There is enough floor space for two boxes of food, containers of whey powder, beer, cake mixes, bags of rice, 2L bottles of soda, etc. The closet is full of food. Olives, sauces, crackers. There is a fajita grill on the top shelf. The only place for my stuff is literally on the bed with me, or tossed over the back of a chair I managed to scrape (literally scraped the wall) in for my cat to sleep on so she didn't get cat hair everywhere.

The only reason I'm in this room rather than my actual bedroom room is because it's too full of stuff to live in. The bed is covered in bags of clothes they bought for my nephew, who's playpen is in that room also. There is food covering the rest of it, food on the headboard, food on the floor. There is no access to my bookshelves because there's garbage bags full of clothes, shoes or food. The only place for clothes in that room is in one shelf of a five shelf dresser (the rest are filled with childrens clothes), and on top of a boxed keyboard that they bought at an antique shop that has only ever been used as an extra shelf (same situation in the dining room with an exercise machine, it's a shelf). I'm told I can't have that room back, because they need it for storage, and for my nephew to sleep in, or for company to sleep in.

I want someplace to actually exist, but I need some advice on how to go about it. I tried clearing out a room in the basement once, and after spending over 18 straight hours cleaning it, it looked the same as when I began, even though I'd thrown out 9 garbage bags worth of stuff and put more of it under the stairs. They acknowledge they have too much stuff, but continue to buy more. The most recent purchases were a 60" TV and a new dining room suite. Often they justify purchases as, "it was on sale", or, "we'll need a new set of this eventually", or, "I bought this to give to my friends / give the old stuff to friends." But it stays here, gets put away, and forgotten.

How can I go about setting this straight? Even for just one room? I feel like I've bitten off more than I can chew, and the whole situation is just hopeless. Just being here is depressing. There's no space to move around in, so I spend most of the time laying in bed. It's the only space I have to myself. I need somewhere to work. I'm sure if I cleared an area of the floor, put a mat on it, and designated it "the push-up spot", it would be covered in a box of food within the week.

Some advice, please.
I'm editing to mention most of the food is not edible, as someone said I should be happy I'm not going to starve. Most of the food is condiments. Sauces, mayo, etc. It gets collected because it's not used and is disproportionate to actual meals. I certainly won't go hungry if I enjoy eating popcorn kernels slathered in mustard.

Your parents sound like hoarders. I'm not saying that to be mean but if you have ever seen or have any intention of seeing "Hoarders: Buried Alive" on TLC... your parents sound exactly like the people on that show.

I am sure not as bad.. but they might have a mild hoarding problem.

You need to get your parents help. You should call an organization specialist for your parents.

Even though you will be moving out eventually... don't you want your parents to live in a clean, nice home when you are living somewhere else?

If you decide not to talk to a specialist... you should go to your parents and tell them that you know you shouldn't complain because they are letting you live there but you think you deserve at least one room in the house to be yourself and decorate it how you want or just to live in it how you want. Ask them if you three can go through the room you want to live in together and pick things to give away or at least put in another room.

I hope it all works out:)
