The colour (which is hard to show on the photograph) is modern ash achieved by the manufacturer using Tung Oil rather than use a glazed finish. It is durable and water proof whilst allowing the wood to have a natural look and maintaining the beauty of the grain.

The legs are solid ash with square legs, it is a reasonable size that will fit in most dining rooms.

The top is solid a ash with lots of grain and is 34mm thick DIMENSIONS... 30" tall x 27.5" wide 60" long.

We are redecorating our living/dining room.

Colours in our room which we won't be changing are the following -

Carpet - aqua
chairs/sofa - Midnight blue leather (almost black)
Wood furniture - ash and pale oak
Fire surround - Portugese limestone

So we need colour suggestions for curtains and walls and paintwork.

We had thought of having a vibrant colour or striking wallpaper on the chimney breast only and keeping everything else fairly subtle.

Ideas would be gratefully received, thanks.

I was thinking a deep red on the chimmney breast but not too sure if it would go good with the others, as for the other walls I agree with the 1st person to answer this question and that brown i.e. chocalate or anything like that with a border - maybe wood and then a nice light cream/white wall at the top

I have a special dining room table project that I want to make for my wife out of Ash or Poplar 2 x 4's and 4 x 4's. Does any one know where and even if they think it is possible to get descent looking *maybe select and better* 2 x 4's and 4 x 4's to make this table. In total i need about 150 board feet, but am trying to get the wood already in 8 foot lengths. What do you think? Where? How much?

If you search by using "poplar 2x4" you will find a decent number of possibilities. Obviously you want one within reasonable striking distance. It is usually difficult to find S4S and 8' lengths because they will normally be rough cut lumber. If this is the case, you will need to use your planer or rent one.

When searching for them, you may have to ask a distributor for a local lumber yard where you can purchase the product. A quick price for 8' boards is around $2.70/bft + shipping. Your local lumber yard will probably charge a minimal shipping fee.
