Amish Dining Furniture

We would like to make a weekend out of it and go to an actual Amish area and find a dining room set.

Either the Amish in Pennsylvania or Ohio? I'm looking for a dining room set and would like some feedback on the quality of the furniture, delivery, warranty.

Don't worry about quality, those people do most of the work by hand, pick the best lumber and don't quit until everything is perfect.
The Amish are known the world over for their woodworking skills!
I don't know about Amish sites though, They aren't allowed to use computers the last I heard and usually get work by word of mouth.
I would check that site out thoroughly before sending any money to it.

I have just starting looking at this furniture, and I love the concept that it's solid wood instead of either cheap wood stained dark, or worse--veneers. I think veneer is okay to look at, but it's not very durable.

The assumption when they call it Amish Furniture, that's made by some technology-malcontents who made this solid 1800 and 1900 century style furniture. Their logos are often their buggies and people plowing, then once you get into the sites there is either no prices or somewhat very expensive furniture, anywhere from $500 for an intable, to $2000 for a dining room table. After going though many sites and showrooms I am also seeing a lot of contemporary designs.

I kind of get the feeling that some of this furniture is getting passed off as being made by the Amish, but what are the hallmarks of Amish Furniture? Do they burn in or mark their furniture in specific ways? Are there any websites that dedicate on what is real, and what is not?

I work at furniture shop where we sell Amish furniture . They do use power tools, like tablesaws and routers. There's no single way to distinguish amish furniture, because they are just amish guys who employ other amish people to work in their shops making furniture, and some of them even use phones. You aren't buying furniture made by somebody using only a hammer and a saw.
BTW I haven't noticed any markings of brand, and to my knowledge there is no market for counterfeit amish furniture.
