Why not buy some black board paint and do one wall where he can go crazy? You can also get magnetic wall paper i think, and he could play with that as well? If you have 4 different interactative walls he will be able to grow with them and learn. This way in a few years when he has grown out of diggers and trucks etc, you dont have to spend a fortune redoing it. And I am sure it is a lot cheaper.
If you cant find maganetic wall paper, or it is too expensive, why dont you get thin sheet metal, and attach it to the wall and some how find away of securing the metal and the edges.. (I dont know if this is practical as i dont have children!)
