where can I find a 3-4 piece toddler bedroom furniture set?

You can try to advertise in your local paper,. . just say that your looking to buy. Also, if your looking for new . . . Sears, Big Lots, Wal-Mart, are all good stores to look for baby furniture. Also, try putting an ad on Postaroo.com

Be sure to give price range in ad on Postaroo.com and also give and idea of your location i.e. within 25 miles of Chicago, for an example.

Can you help me with a set-up for a one bedroom apartment with my toddler?

I am moving into a one bedroom apartment with my 18 month old son. It was silly to get a two bedroom with just the two of us and I pretty much have to buy everything but his furniture and my dining room table (Just got divorced) I choose an apartment that was a little more expensive, since it is less than a year old, safe, and luxury....that's my other reason for a one bedroom. Before I start buying things, I'd like some decorating tools or how I best set this up if I don't want to sleep with my son in the same bed. I won't have many people over so using the living room as a living room/bedroom is an option. Thanks
Oh he is going to have his own room. I am going to set the living room, like I said, to be a living room/bedroom. I felt a safe community that was new was better for my son. Older apartments have lots of problems....my last apartment looked nice when I moved in then all of a sudden mold was coming up from the carpet and on the tub! I was miserable in that 2 bedroom. So quality is what I was looking for and as a single mom who's getting NO help....it's what I could afford!
The one bedroom will be his room.....me in living room.

This place seems to have some good deals on sofa beds.

For those of you with convertable cribs...how do you feel about the toddler bed? Baby #2 on the way...?

I am getting ready to switch my daughter from her crib to her toddler bed and I am kind of dreading it. I don't really like the looks of the "toddler bed", it looks more like a daybed. On top of that, I'm shopping for new bedding and I'm afraid it won't lay right because of how it has the three sides. I guess I knew all of this when I purchased it, I was just more crib focused at the time. It seemed like it would be a lifetime until I actually needed the toddler bed. I still absolutely LOVE the crib and when it eventually turns into a full size bed I know I will love that too. It's just this middle transition that I'm having a hard time with lol!

My husband and I thought about skipping the toddler bed altogether and just putting her straight in the full size bed. But we have baby #2 on the way and didn't really want to spend the money on a full size mattress right now. We were planning on buying new furniture for the baby. I know I'm probably just over-analyzing this situation but I don't know what to do (I blame the pregnancy lol). I've been looking for inexpensive used bedroom sets to put her in instead, thinking maybe we could save some money by just letting the new baby have the crib and furniture we already have.

What did you do when baby #2 came? How did you feel about you toddler bed when it came time to convert?

Well, I only have one baby but he sleeps in his 3-in-1 convertible crib. Once he's big enough it will be converted to a toddler bed. My husband agreed that we would rather spend the money on him picking out some really cool bedding for his convertible crib and get as much use as we can out of it.

If I had another baby: My first child would (when ready) sleep in a twin sized regular bed and I would use his old convertible crib for the new child. Kill two birds with one stone.

Question about bedroom being set up for your homestudy.?

We are adopting through foster care and I know when they do our homestudy that we have to have a bedroom for the child but do we have to have a crib/bed & furniture in there at that time? We don't know if we are getting a baby, toddler, child so I'm not sure how to set up the room....just something I was wondering about. Thanks!

This might be a state-specific question.

We adopted internationally but we had to pass all the same homestudy requirements as foster parents in Ohio (plus additional items that Russia required.) We did *not* have to have the bedroom furniture set up or the room decorated at the time of the homestudy. We just had to show that the room was available and habitable (no holes in the ceiling, adequate heating, etc.)

Experienced Moms - Nursery to Toddler Room - REALLY NEED ADVICE?

Okay. I really need some help here.

Last night we bought (and can still cancel the order/return) a beautiful nicely crafted nursery set where the crib converts to a bed. The "idea" behind the really nice nursery furniture is that it will follow our son (yes, we are having a boy) through his life. The set is beautiful and we all have images of the perfect nursery right?

NOW - I woke up this morning (morning is when my mind is most clear) and I started thinking about Alex in his room. First, if he chews up his crib will it really be a lifetime set?? Even assuming you can patch/stain the tooth marks on it will my teenage son really want to sleep in the bed he has had when he was a baby and will everything just look bashed up anyhow?? Nice furniture with soft elegant wood and finish? Hmmmm - thoughts?

My thoughts then meandered to two different things - (1) the idea that his room should be "his" space and should be a fun place for him to explore and that we should be conservative about furnishings early on and really spunk it up and cater it to his fun interests as he gets a little older or (2) maybe his bedroom really should be a calm sanctuary and a nice furniture set is just fine. Is turning a bedroom into a sort of playroom too distracting for him to sleep in? I mean, if a child has chalkboard paint on the walls to draw, built-in counters to color, use play-dough, etc. on will he EVER want to actually "sleep" in the room? How many of your children "play" in their bedrooms?? Really, I have no idea.

Please give me any advice you can on this. I really don't know what to do. Am I kidding myself with these "lifetime" type sets? Is it just a more expensive set of what will truly amount to disposable furniture? Is having nice furniture going to turn what "should" be a fun space for him into another stiffling grown-up space?? Do kids really just chew the heck out of furniture in their rooms (especially the cribs?)

Anyhow, could just use some guidance here :-0

I think like others have said that it depends on the kid. When I was pregnant with our son(who is also Alex) we also bought a nice set that converts to a toddler bed and then a full bed. We knew that we wanted at least two kids and that this set would last as long as we needed it. When I got pregnant with my daughter we moved our son out of the crib into a new twin bed and used the crib for our daughter. We have just taken the rail off of the crib and now use it as a toddler bed for our daughter. So far the bed is still in good shape, and I have two very active children, the jumping on the bed type. We plan on using the furniture until my daughter moves out of the house, but if we need to, we will get her new furniture.

As for playing in their rooms, we have NO toys in their rooms, just a few books. That is what works for us. We are lucky enough to have a house that has room for a seperate play room, and that is where we keep the toys. My kids would never sleep if we kept toys in their rooms, but that is my kids, they have never been sleepers to begin with. Not having toys in their rooms did make the transition from crib to bed easier, when they got out of bed, there was nothing for them to do, so they got bored and got back in bed and went to sleep.

If you are worried about the baby chewing on the rail, there are things you can buy to put on the rail to prevent the wood from getting ruined.

I have never had to use these, but friends who have used them, loved them.

In my opinion you got the right furniture, but ultimatly you have to decide what is right for your family. And if you are pregnant, don't forget about the hormones and the nesting, I was constantly second guessing all my decisions while I was pregnant. I found that usually my first instinct was the right one.

If you are shopping for children’s bedroom sets, you have a lot to consider.  There’s a wide range of choices, styles and features and it is difficult to know which ones are right for you.  Of course, your children’s comfort and safety come first, but the features you choose can make a big difference in the value you get from your bedroom set.

Quality can vary widely between bedroom sets.  It is important to get your furniture at the lowest price, but buying the cheapest furniture is not the best way to go.  Low-end furniture could easily end up costing you more.  First, it simply will not last as long as higher quality furniture.  Second, it might not be as safe for your children.  Many low-end bedroom sets are finished with toxic substances, or have ill fitting pieces that can harm your child.

One feature you might want to look for when buying a children’s bedroom set is a convertible crib.  The ability to convert your crib into a toddler’s bed and then into a full-sized bed for teens will give you many more years of use from your entire bedroom set.
