Rattan Bedroom Furniture

we recently moved into a condo, on the 6th floor, water-front, in Fla. For the last 2 days, our bedroom furniture has begun to reek of cat pee. We have no explanation to this. Can someone help me. We do have a cat, and, yet, this furniture has never been peed on. Please, we are at our wits end.
Okay, here's the deal. We move from one place to another, along with our own furniture. We noticed that after a few days, our bedroom furniture has taken on this awful smell.( like cat pee). We do have a cat, but our furniture never smelled like this before the move. Anyway, after several days, we noticed the rattan furniture that we have had for nearly 3 yrs. has started to stink like cat pee. Could it be that we have moved to water-front property? Kinda damp, compared to what we are used to. I wish someone could help explain this phenomenon. It is sooooooooooo frustrating. Any ideas?

Phone one of the carpet cleaners in the yellow pages and ask them what cleaner gets the smell of cat pee out of rattan. They'll know exactly what you should use.

My headboard is Rattan and finished in a white gloss. I want to paint it to match my Cherry bedroom furniture. I can't stain it over the gloss and it would be too difficult to sand. I need a spray paint in a Cherry color, but I can't find paint in wood colors. Can anyone help me in finding the Cherry spray paint? Please offer brand names so I can do a search online. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Something you might experiment with........perhaps on a small section on the back of the rattan head board......paint the rattan a cream color (with a yellowish tinge to it) with a matt or dull alkyd base paint. Let it dry several days. Find a THICK or GELLED cherry stain (sorry....can't offer a brand name) Apply small amount of stain at a time with a brush over the newly painted rattan......adding more stain to darken. or spreading the application out more to lighten....until you match the finish to your other piece. I have had success with this method in faux finishing plastic to represent wood.
