Painted Bedroom Furniture

Does anyone have a photo of a bedroom set where the dresser/nightstand is pine and the headboard is painted black?

If you have a black headboard then you might want to add some black highlights to the dresser and nightstands to blend them together...paint the body of the dresser and nightstands black leaving the drawer fronts and tops the natural pine and add some great black iron hardware. It will look great with the headboard.

My bedroom furniture is pressed wood with a darkish veneer. I want to paint it cream. Can anyone advise me?

Because it's pressed wood I'd def. use a bonding agent. Sand, rub with Wil-Bond(Home Depot may have) and use an OIL based, Slow drying primer than two topcoats of a good semi-gloss or higher sheen to finish(for durability) Drying time and prep is very important in between steps. I do this for a living and nothing less will work. Your primer will stink and it's a three day process because of drying. If you seal it. Don't use an oil polyurethane it will alter your color....Best of luck

All the furniture in my bedroom is black and I'm so bored with it. I want to paint them, but I don't know what colors to do. I don't want to do them all the same color, but I don't want my room to look like a rainbow either. I have a desk, a nightstand, and two bookcases.

The walls are green - it's sort of a bright light green, lighter than normal green but not pale. My bedspread and curtains are the same aqua blue color, and I don't want to change them.

What colors should I do?

Light brown will be ok and add some traditional or natural wood furniture for your home may be more elegant.

I have a wood bed, bedside table, and dresser that are black. I want to paint them a lighter color to brighten up my bedroom. For wall color, I'm thinking about maybe a light yellow. What color do you think would look nice for the furniture with yellow walls? Do you think it could possibly look bad if the furniture was just a solid, painted color with no wood grain showing through?

You could paint it a creamy white.

And hang white plates behind the bed, on the wall, like the 3rd pic here:

--After I bought the set I painted my room hot pink and now the furniture is completeley lost and doesn't stand out at all. So I'm thinking that I should either paint the furniture white so that it will definteley pop or I should just repaint my room to more of a airy brezzy spa blue. Your answers are very serious to me so please help it you can. Thanks in advance.

I love the furniture. Yes, you can paint it, all you have to do is prime the backboard and foot board (with Kilz or Benz) and then paint it white, but don't. The finish is really beautiful, and timeless. You can tire of the paint color on the walls, but what a simple solution. Paint the walls another color. Spa colors are so chic right now (timeless, too) , especially with a calm, neutral blue, and you have the right idea already. Spa blue is so restful, peaceful, and beautiful with your bed. A beautiful blue throw at the end of the bed and throw pillows would set the room theme. Paint the walls spa blue:) A good place to start for this palette is Benjamin Moore.
