Japanese Bedroom Furniture

For an assignment, I need to know what some furniture is usually put in a traditional japanese house in a bedroom and living room. Thanx XD

Traditionally Japanese rooms did not have permanent furniture. Items were brought out as they were required, a charcoal brazier to warm the hands in the winter, individual trays on legs that were used for meals, or futons for sleeping. A living room would have an alcove where a picture scroll, a flower arrangement and an incense burner would be placed - a samurai house might also have a sword rack there. Folding screens may also be placed in the room.
In more recent years, it is common to have low table in the center of the room.

I want to redo my bedroom to make it look like a sitting room type thing until it's time for bedtime when I convert my futon into a bed. I would like some Japanese style things but I don't want it to be obvious that it's japanese styled. I also want it to look very modern.

My suggest for your room to achieve what you want is as you said.To keep your room to the minimalist look. This look will capture the simplistic look and also the Japanese look without being too strong a statement. I would look into some Feng Shui design. I would also be aware of the look in your room becoming to uninviting or stark. ( cold appearance ) If you balance all the components, that being pattern texture and colors, your results will be pleasing to you. I have seen some great decorating ideas at Pottery Barn. This would be under Natural Inspiring section. Nature colors will work well for your room. Greens, Tans etc. Think ' Zen ' when you decorate :o)

Hello. I am a 15 year old boy and I would like a japanese style bedroom. My room is somewhat big, the walls curve up and then get flat on the top. As in it isn't a square room. I would want it almost completely japanese style. Here are some ideas i would like you to give me:
1) Wall color
2) What should be the floor
3) type of furniture
4) any japanese style decorations.
I also dont want dark colors like red and black for the walls.

Cut one large square or three matching size rectangles about 12"x30" out of box cardboard.
To make the hanger, punch two holes 1/2 inch apart 1 inch from the top in the center,
(where a hanger is on the back of a frame)

thread the ends of a twisty tie (the paper covered wire used to close bread) thru the holes, turn cardboard over, make a loop and twist the ends together.
Cut a piece of fabric 2 inches larger than the cardboard.
Lay a layer of batting on top of fabric, lay cardboard on top and wrap to the back like a present and pin.

I want to redecorate my sky blue bedroom in a Japanese/Chinese style. Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how to make my room look like that?
Furniture ideas, drapes, anything?
Really I don't know what I'm doing except that I don't want to change the paint.

Go with minimal Japanese style. Get a one- or at most two- plain white paper globe lamp(s) and some simple, wooden framed furniture. Paint the wooden frames of the furniture black or leave it plain, as long as the wood tones match.
For the bed, go with a simple, low lying wooden frame of the same design/color. You can place a nice candle charger with some pebbles around it on your night stand. A beta fish in a tall glass cylinder is always a nice touch. Finish with a nice Japanese caligraphy wall hanging. You can make your own really easily and find one on google that means something to you.

That's my bedroom anyways, and it's my little piece of Japanese bliss... good luck!

Traditionally, in a 1DK apartment, you would have a low table with floor cushions for dining and a futon you put in the closet during the day. Chests and dressers would be along the walls in order be able to put everything away.
A more modern configuration is a dining table and chairs, a single bed in the bedroom, a dresser, and maybe a computer table.
