Handmade Bedroom Furniture

I'm going down the vintage/shabby/chic road for my bedroom. Basically old style, so from any era really...


I need ideas on furniture, things to put in the room and paint/wall paper..

Also, anything else that would make my bedroom unique like records pinned to the ceiling or handmade things...

It sounds like you're more into the 50's era if you want to use records in your decor. The link below has some ideas for 50's decor. A retro 50's look would be called Rockabilly. If you really want the pastel colors and super fem shabby chic look, then there's another link for that.

When my parents were married, they bought some really nice sets of furniture. They were nice woods - solid cherry, mahogany, etc and handmade, I think in the USA for all of them. This sort of stuff: http://www.daviscabinetcompany.com/home2 .html (that was one of them. I've heard this company has overseas manufacturing now too, though :(

I love this stuff, but now it seems like the world is overrun with these big-box furniture stores... mass produced furniture from *somewhere* in the world, with plywood and particleboard and whatever else. It is frustrating.

Where can you buy fine furniture these days? Especially made in America. I'd love links and even recommendations of particular lines. Right now I'm looking for a bedroom suite, but would love to see anything that you think is the best of the best.

PS - I live in the Boston area (between Boston and New Hampshire) so if you have actual store recommendations for my area, I would welcome those too!

I know what you mean. I like the fine-crafted wood but I've never had the money to really go to a high-end store. I did find a great 100% mahogany bed at Bombay Company which I'm very happy with and found some matching nightstands and chest-of-drawers at an antique store. Sometimes it's just a matter of searching.

update - sorry, it looks like they filed Chapter 11 in September 2007. It's too bad since they had nice stuff.

I'm not looking at a complete overhaul or anything just a couple accents to go with it.
I have 2 woodstock posters, 1 vintage anti-nuke poster(framed), 2 pkgs of vintage anti-nuke postage framed, a vintage lamp with a small sun on the...uh..stem?, my own art on canvases(I use muted tones and watercolour or vibrant tones and grotesque imagery), my bedspread is floral and my pillows are paisley, I have a TV on an old vintage school desk with a handmade floral table cloth, an easel, a wooden trunk, a wooden captains bed, a vinyl beanbag chair, 2 wooden bookcases, a record player, floral speakers and a wooden night-stand.
My walls are light purple with dark purple edging(that I hate, I was 11 when I picked it), the carpet is grey, and all my furniture is vintage or handmade wooden stuff(with the exception of my easel).
I want ideas for little details to add? Also I'd like to know where to find Rocky Horror Picture Show decorations/furniture?
Oh! I forgot I have a massive Pink Floyd's The Wall poster.

I am 18 years old, and I have furniture in my bedroom that is worth about $6000, all antiques, decorations are valuable, some very old, it is all up to you. I enjoy antiques, decorations that are nice, religious, or have to do with the environment, such as having flowers on it. It is up to you!

My wife and I have had a lot of trouble with our relationship recently. Her son molested my daughter,8 yrs ago, I have never forgiven him and the wife just can't understand why not. After the wife kicked my 14 yr old son out of our house, and back to his mom's, she moved into his bedroom. She has barely spoken to me over the past month, threatened divorce, threatened to take the chain saw to my handmade furniture, and put our new house up on the market kicking me out into the cold. I was at the edge of suicide when an old love entered the picture. Question: when is it not too soon to get involved with her?

Get the divorce finalized THEN bang her back out (in that order)!

When he came over to my house, he was shocked to discover that I live on 3 acres of beautiful property with an automatic gate out front and a stone wall around 3 sides of my property.

My house is a 3400 sq. ft. 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath house with marble tile in the entryway/foyer, cherry hardwood floors throughout the house, I have $3,000 dollar Persian handmade rugs on my floors, wainscoting, crown molding, and most of my furniture is handmade of oak and mahogany.

I also have a hand built 5.6 liter V12 midengine mounted sports car that goes from 0-60 in under 5 seconds and is painted bright fire engine red. The appraised value of the car is close to $100,000 dollars.

And this fool lives in a trailer park with his mom.

P.S. I also am a pilot, scuba diver, gun collector, skipper of my own small yacht, and world traveler.

even IF you lived in squallor, no one has the right to belittle anyone else. who you are is important not what you have. as long as you have a kind heart and treat others with dignity and respect you should hold your head high at being an asset to humanity. this person has so little self respect they can only feel good by tearing down others, i pity them they're empty and sad. i'm glad you're doing well finacially and hope your spiritual life is as rich...........may you always walk in beauty
