Diy Bedroom Furniture

I've looked at Ikea and MFI online, but cant seem to see just the carcass's, can I buy these online or is this a trip to the stores.

What sort of a question is this ? how do you expect people to know what your likes or dislikes are. You say you have tried MFI & Ikea but with no luck,so I would go with your last suggestion & go on line

It has nicotine stains all over it and pretty much needs to be refinished. It's not cracked or has any nicks and scratches in it. How time consuming is this. How much money in products would it run about to do this entire set.

You would do very well to purchase this set in my opinion. I think the wood is mahogany. I has a stain to enhance and even the color of the wood. The bulk of the cost would be labor, so if you are willing to do the sanding, stripping, etc. you would come out way ahead. I would sand down the finish where I could, and maybe use a commerical stripper to clean up the molding or areas difficult to get to with a sander. you can also use sandpaper affixed to sponge, or sandpaper wrapped around dowel to get into the curved areas.
Depending on the cost of sand paper and associated stuff, spongesanders, etc - It would be very little cost. And, I wouldn't use stain after sanding it. I would simply add a sealer, something like polyurethane, to protect the wood.

All in all I don't think one would spend more than $25 to complete the project.

My bedroom furniture is wood, painted black, and the dresser and nightstand have a light cherry stain on the tops. The pieces are fifteen years old, but high quality and in great shape. Everything just needs a little cosmetic work. Do I need to actually refinish the pieces? If not, what can I use to clean the painted surfaces and the stained wood? I'd like to get the furniture to look as new as possible!

I have never done anything other than wipe them down with a cloth, and I am definitely a novice at any refinishing (or anything DIY in general).

Any answers are much appreciated!

If you want restore the natural wood look you have to refinish it. I refinished my stairs with Citris Orange Paint Remover. You let it set and it bubbles the paint. Then you scrape off paint and lightly sand then polyurethane it. Or you could contact your local antique dealer and ask them. What would be the best way to touch up the furniture. Could be something simple. If it has a dull look and you haven't tried Murphy's Oil Soap.

I have an old bedroom set from when I was a child that is still in great condition. The furniture is sturdy and finish is still mostly in good condition. There are some spots that are yellowing, but they are few and not worth redoing the whole thing over. It is now my little boy's furniture. What can I do to make it more masculine for him? The handles will need to be replaced as they are victorian style, but is there anything else i need to do to make it suitable for a little boy? Im not good at DIY projects but I will try if needed.

Does he like a certain car or truck. Use the the colors from that 3 colors. One for solid color and another for drawers and a color for the nobs. to make it pop.

I have a very tight budget, so DIY projects are definitely welcome. I have three light yellow walls and one light blue wall. It is a small bedroom-my furniture consists of a king sized bed, a dresser and a bookshelf (both of those are tall rather than wide-they take up less room that way).
I'm looking mainly for ideas of wall art. I don't have a headboard and was thinking of making one myself, but I don't know, since my room is already small it might make it appear smaller.

you can get an 8' sheet of plywood, cover it with quilt batting on one side, stapled to the plywood on the other, and a few yards of a fabric that goes well with your other decor to cover the batting, again stapled to the other side. Lay longways on the floor behind the head of your bed for an instant, cheap headboard.
Another cheap idea for decor is to get a large canvas (oil painting type) and some colors you like, splash across the canvas and let dry. Instant art. Pretty cheap.
Make the most of the room you have with underbed storage bins.
