Canopy Bedroom Furniture

i have black queen bed and black furniture ..we r moving to new hpuse..i want to color my bedroom light green...does bed canopy look good?

Canopy beds are timeless. why kings have slept in canopy beds, so they are not just for little girls. but do go for a simple modern look. bc u own black furniture, it will look tailored, yet sophisticated. asian accents would be fun too.

im looking to get an apartment and i'd like to furnish it for comfort and style...without spending a million bucks if this is possible! i'm looking for a bedroom suite with a canopy bed, dresser/mirror, and an armoire, and if i really wanna go nuts,a night stand...for the living room im thinking more or less a sectional couch just might do the trick...the only nice brands i know is tiffany lamps...and i dont really care about lamps that much...i know hancock and moore makes leather high end couches...but i just want something super comfortable that still looks nice...as far as bedroom furniture, i'm really interested in real wood, dark wood more so, but i don't know if that's possible without being a multi-millionare...please give me as much information as you can, links appreciated...are places like sofa express and value city furniture worth it? thanks!

Ethan Allen consistently produces high quality, good value furniture. Ethen Allen is sold in their own stores. Stikely, Baker and Henrodon are excellent, but less value focused. These lines are sold in better furniture stores. Check out their websites for your local information. Italydesgn.com and dwr.com each offer quality reproductions of classic modern pieces. "Tiffany" is not a lamp brand, it is a syle available from many manufacturers is a big range of quality. I am not familiar with Sofa Express or Value City Furniture, but can say that most furniture stores carry products from a range of manufacturers and quality.

Since you say "a million bucks" - which actually could mean different amounts to different people let me share some experienced-based lessons I have learned.

Give serious consideration to how long you expect to keep the furniture that you are buying now. Do you plan or expect to move any distance? If so, do you want to have furniture worthy of transporting or would you rather be in a position to travel light? Buy quality alligned with your decision.

Clearly you care about furniture and style. If you are ready to invest: Shop, read, shop, browse and shop some more and then visit open houses. Make your style choices well thought out. It is frustrating to regret selections in just a few short years.

Lastly, the absolute best furniture values are in resale. After you know the style you like and manufacturers you trust, become a craigslist and estate sale junkie. For top-quality sets expect to pay no more than 30% of retail - with no sales tax.

I have a really beautiful bedroom set with a canopy and a huge four poster bed and marble top dresser and night stands. The bedroom size is unfortunately average not considered large. On the opposite side of the bed I have a flat screen tv on the wall. My husband found a really classy desk that matches the exact color and style of our bedroom. There would still be enough space to walk comfortably. Would it look bad if we placed that desk in that area where the tv is? It has no shelves or anything almost looks like a table. The study room is always being used up by everyone else in the house and my husband does a lot of work on the computer. Please advise me if this sounds like an ok idea.....

I agree with the standing outside and studying your room, its a really good way to get to know your room. Another thing though is that you need to figure out where the traffic flow of your room is. So the places you'll need space for the most. Its good that there is a comfortable amount of space to walk but what about when he's working? and you wanna walk through? I can't really imagine how far the bed is from the wall that the TV is on, but maybe putting the desk up against the wall underneath the TV is its not too overwhelming to the look of the room.

if the bed is far enough from that wall with the TV then I'd say go for it leave it where you intended and maybe get a small area rug for that desk so you can separate the little island of workspace your husband has got.

We are looking for a certain style of bedroom furniture. Described as follows: The bed must be antique white colored on the bottom- but the top canopy part of the bed must still be a wood finish- the antique white cottage effect is what is desired and the bed is essential in this- she wants exactly that- old cottage style antique white poster/canopy bed- but the top has to be that solid top and its gotta be the wood finish- what is that called???? where can we buy it??? thank you
yeah- weve tried ebay- the problem is we dont know what its called... my mom is the one who wants the furniture- shes not buying a bed (literally) until she finds this one... its crazy- but yeah - i need to know what its called - then the decorator can find it- i may rephrase and repost this question

My parents are giving me a dark cherry bedroom suite (dresser, mirror, chest, and nightstand) that is fairly modern (black handles, smooth lines). But the bed I'm getting is slightly lighter in color and more classic looking. See the link below.

Red/raspberry and cream together would work well with cherry wood furniture. You could paint one wall in the red shade...

Or for a modern twist on the 'feature wall' idea, why not paint your ceiling red and keep the walls cream or white.

Or you could for for something fresher like sage or duck egg blue. This shade of blue works so nicely with dark stained wood, but would also work with your slightly lighter coloured bed. I love brown and duck egg blue together...

Or you could embrace the retro feel that cherrywood creates and decorate with earthy greens and browns... there is a great cross-over between retro and modern looks, and you can achieve this by dressing the room with accessories such as a contemporary chrome arc lamp...
