Black Lacquer Bedroom Furniture

We were just given a black lacquer bedroom set: head board, night stand, and chest of drawers. Our house has a country decor. How in the world do I make this work? I need ideas for room color, bedding color, etc. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Make it black & white bedroom. You can put white bed sheet & white curtain.

i recently found some black lacquer furniture, at a consignment shop, i knew it had been so hard to find these days as it was discontinued some years ago, my mother use to have a intire bedroom set long ago, but she sold it, i was so anxious to fine some and by luck i did, the two pieces were in mint condtion, and i was able to bid down the two pieces for only 50.00 a piece, now i need some advice on how to decorate my bedroom with them, as the lady told me i have to be careful about how i decorate with them, so can some one tell me can i go with floral colors, maybe some deep burgundy, greens, golds lil bit asian, rot iron bed , some one plz give some good examples, the lady that sold them to me say stay away from creams and solid whites and black, she said the two tables are enough black, to use in ur bedroom, i plan to use for tv table for my tv. all opinions excepted male are female input. thanks.

Since the lady sold them, they are now yours to decide.

I would do a silver white or gray on the walls for a modern look and accent with a burgandy. Or a nice taupe or latte on the walls with natuals around the room - Bamboo asian accents in deeper tones with a splash of a royal color such as purple, red, or gold accents.

Or, you can go with wild pinks, or aqua and silver for the retro look which is rather hot.

Black lacquer is most likely either a laminate or veneer with a lesser quality substrate. The negligable color change wouldn't be worth the effort. Black lacquer furniture may be worth a reinvestment in new instead of trying to salvage the old.

Omigod!!!! My husband paid a hoot for our black lacquer Italian bedroom furniture. I left my nail polish on my nightstand and it was closed tight. It leaked, don't know how because I checked it. I wiped off the polish off my night stand but it smeared. the spot is maybe 2"x 3 1/2". I don't want to use nail polish remover because I'm sure it will also take away the sheen. HELP!!!!

Well if the color is still on the top, and there is just a smear on the surface, you can try to wet sand the top with 800 to 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper, then get some buffing compound that is used to buff out automobile paint and rub out the top. (You'll get a heck of a workout doing this by hand if you don't have a power buffer) You can get both the sandpaper and the compound at any store that sells auto paints, check your local phone directory...(and whatever you do, do NOT use nail polish remover because it WILL take the sheen AND paint off the top!!)
